IMPROVEMENT IN SUMMER COOKING'STOVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,049, dated July 16, 1872.
Specification of an Improved Summer Cook Stove, invented by LESTER OAICLEY, of Govington, in the county of Kenton and State of Kentucky.
This invention relates to that class of cookin g apparatus commonly known as summer stoves and the first part of my improvements consists in providing such stoves with an extension top that is furnished with two ordinary lids or covers and a short center. 6 The second part of my improvements relates to a v smoke-consumin g apparatus that is applied to the fire-chamber of such stoves in a manner which will be hereinafter more fully described.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a perspective view of a summer stove embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse section through the fire-chamber.
The fire-chamber A, which is preferably circular in its horizontal section, is provided with a rearward extension, B, having neck 0 for the attachment of a stove-pipe. This extension is also furnished with two ordinary lids or covers, D D, and a short center, E. For
general cooking purposes the lids D D only are removed; but whenever it is desired to heat an ironin g-pan, wash-boiler, or other large vessel, theshort center E is alsoremoved. A
lining, F, is placed within the chamber A in such a manner as to leave an annular space, G, between these two members; and said lining is provided, near the top of its rear side, with openings f that admit heated air above the fuel, and thus promote combustion and assist in consuming the smoke. The air which supports combustion, and also circulates through the annular heating-space G, is admitted through apertures a and 9.
