Description
LETTER-SHEET GUIDE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. "7, 1919.
Application filed May 14, 1917. Serial No. 168,494.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY L. DUNSDON, a c tizen of the United States, residing at McEli-oy, in the county of Sheridan and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Letter- Sheet Guides, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in letter sheet guides and the principal object of the invention is to provide means for enabling a person to secure a uniform margin on unruled letter paper. 7
Another object of the invention is to provide means for securing uniform indentations for paragraphs and for keeping the lines of writing level and parallel.
A further object of the invention is to provide means for holding the paper on the guide against movement and without touching the same with the fingers.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character, which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and el'ficient in operation and one which can be manufactured at a minimum cost.
The invention consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my'invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts tl roughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a face view of the invention, and
Fig. 2 is an end view thereof.
.In these figures, 1 indicates a sheet of card board, blotter, or other suitable material provided with a series of parallel lines 2 running across the paper and with a marginal line 3 located adjacent the left hand side of the sheet, approximately an inch from the ends of the lines 2. At the left hand side is :1 turned over flap 4:, the edge of this flap being on a line with the ends of the lines 2, and I prefer to cut the corners off of this flap forming inclined ends as at 5.
In use, the sheet of letter paper indicated at 6 in Fig. 2, is placed on the-guide with its left hand edge fitting against the outer edge of the flap Wherethe same joins the sheet. In writing the fingers of the left hand are placed on this flap to hold the same in contact with the letter paper, so that this paper is held against movement on the guide.
The lines 2 and 3 are made heavy so that they will appear through the letter sheet, thus forming a guide for the writing, while the line 3 forms a guide for the beginning of the paragraphs. The edge of the flap will form a guide for the margin.
It is thought from the foregoing that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make slight changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fallwithin the scope of the appended claim.
I claim as my invention As a new article of manufacture, a letter sheet guide formed from a blank sheet of material and comprising a rectangular body, said body being folded over to form a longitudinally extending side flap, upon one edge, the remaining edges of said body beirg unobstructed, said flap having a straght edge, said flap also being tapered contiguous to the ends of said body, said body having parallel lines extending transversely thereacross, said body also having a margin line extending longitudinally thereof and parallel to the straight edge of said fiap.
In testimony whereof I atlix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HARRY L. DUNSDON.
