A dart embodying a sectional casing, ction adapted to contain a quantity of explosive substance, a coupling interposed between the confronting ends of the sections for connecting the sections with one another, a series of barrels carried by said coupling, a firing cartridge having a projectile connected withthe coupling, means slidably associated with the casing for causing the projectile to pass axially throu h the coupling, and means arranged in t e path of movement of the firing cartridge for causing the latter to explode the eartridges contained in the barrels of the coupling.

A dart embodying a sectional casing, each section adapted to contain a quantity of explosive substance, a coupling interposed between the confronting ends of the sections for connecting the sectionsv with one another, a series of barrels carried by said coupling, a firing cartridge having a projectile connected with the coupling, means slidably associated with the casing for causing the projectile to pass axially through the coupling, and means arranged in the path of movement of the firing cartridge for causing the latter to explode the cartridges contained in the barrels of the coupling, and a safety device for holding the said slidably mounted means against any accidental movement.

A shell comprising a body having a longitudinally extending bore or chamber, an expansible member contained within said chamber, cartridges carried by the body, firing pins for the cartridges, said pins being adapted to coperate with the member, and contact means carried by the shell adapted to expand the member when the shell strikes an object.
15. A shell comprising a body having a longitudinally extending bore or chamber, an expansible member contained wlthm sald chamber, cartridges carried by the body, firing pins for the cartridges, said pins belng adapted to coperate with the member, and an explosive charge for expanding the member and contact means arranged and adapted to explode said charge when the shell strikes an object.
