HENRY WARREN WARNER, OF GREENFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN DASH-RAILS FOR VEHICLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,933, dated July 9, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
To all whom it may concern:
13e it known that I, HENRY WARREN WAR NER, of Greenfield, in the county of Franklin and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in Dash-Rails for Garriages, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad to the accompanyin gdrawing. i
My invention consists in certain improvements in dash-rails for carriages.
Figure l is a perspective view of my improved rail, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section of a part of the same.
Dash-rails have heretofore been made of one piece, bent into proper shape With the end of the brace inserted through a hole bored in the rail, and then riveted, or the brace Was provided With a hole through which the rail was passed.
In constructing my improved rail I provide two pieces, A A, bent Vinto the proper shape, with one end iiattened and provided with screw-holes for fastening to the dash, as usual. 0n the opposite end I cut a screw-thread, for
the purpose of attaching to a center-piece, as shown in Fig. 2. I then provide a brace, B, one side of which is made in the form of a name-plate, as shown at b in Fig. l. The ends a a of this brace are recessed and provided With a screw-thread for the screw-thread on the ends of the pieces A A to engage in. 4 From the lower side of this center piece B I extend an arm, e, downward far enough to be secured to the dash, as shown in Fig. 1.
It is obvious that, if preferred, the ends of the rails, where they enter the center piece B, may be soldered fast, either with or without the screw-threads thereon. In this way I am enabled to construct a cheap, strong, and ornamental rail.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is- A dash-rail for carriages, consisting of the parts A, united to the center piece B, al1 constructed and arranged as herein described.
HENRY W. WARNER.
