IMPROVEMENT IN BREAST-COLLARS FOR- HORSES.

SPECIFICATION.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RALPH D. KENDALL, of the village of Richville, township of De Kalb, county of =St. Lawrence and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Breast-Collar for Single and Double Harness; and do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof.
In the drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a breast-collar provided with my improved spring-plate, having shoulderstraps attached. Fig. 2 is a view of the spring plattidetached from the collar proper.
The object of my invention is to remedy defects inherent in other breast-collars provided with spring or metal plates, in that the loops by which the shoulder-straps support the collar are attached to the leather inclosing the spring-plate. In my invention I provide the plate with rigid metal loops and allow them to project through the leather, as hereinafter described.
In the drawing, A is the aforesaid spring or steel plate, and B the leather sheathing of the same. The plate is made of the requisite width and length, and provided with a downward bend at e to adapt it to the base of the neck of the horse, and thus prevent choking. The metal loops at a for the shoulder-straps and the loop I) for the breast-strap are securely riveted to the plate, as shown, and when the leather sheathing is applied they project through it and constitute a means of holding the same in place, and prevent the working of one on the other, thus rendering the collar more durable.
