vided therefor in an end 9 of the reservoir so that it may be grasped by the fingers for adgusting its position.
, The reservolrs may befilled through-any Conveniently located closable opening, as the hesive paste applied thereto in passing over said edge. A similar roller is journaled in said ends 1 at a suitable point over the front edge of the reservoir, said roller being designed to have the paper pass thereunder, or between it and said reservoir, as
is clearly shown in Fig. 9. A pasting brush 2.1 has its ends mounted in a suitable-man ner in said frame-ends l in a position wherein the bristles thereof will yieldingly exert pressure on the paper which extends upward in front of the roller 20.
The bowed member 2 of the frame carries a socketed member 22 designed to re( eive a handle 23 whereby the device is supported by hand in the operation-of the device. In practice, the end of the paper roll 4 carried by the roller 3 ispassed rearwar to and upward over the perforated rear edge of the reservoir to and over the roller 19, thence to andunder the roller 20. In bein drawn over said perforated edge, paste exu ing through the perforations is spread over the rear face or back of the paper strip and is still further distributed in passing over the roller 19. Having passed beneath the roller 20 the end of the strip may be applied to the wall which is to be papered, whereupon the device is moved downward along the wall. In such movement the paper is yieldingly pressed against the wall and is smoothed out by the brush 21.
It will be noted that the device described is susceptible of various changes in the form and arrangement of some of its parts. I. do not therefore desire to be limited to the precise construction and arrangement herein shown -and described, but reserve to myself such changes as fall within the scope of the appended claims. I
'What is claimed is 1. Apaper-hanging device comprising a paste reservoir having a curved rear edge with perforations therein, means for con trolling the passage of paste through said perforations,
thereon a roll of paper disposed beneath said reservoir, said' guide rollers being located over the front and rear portions, respectively, of said reservoir, and a .brush located over. the front ed e of said reservoir, the paper strip as wit drawn from the paper rollbeing passed rearward to and upward over the perforated rear edge of said guide rollers disposed over said reservoir, a roller adapted to carry and out of register with the latter for opening and closing the same to the passage of paste, the paper as it unwinds from said roller being adapted to pass rearward to and upward over said perforated edge and thence forward over the top of said reservoir, a brush located over the from" edge and thence upward in of said reservoir, and rollers located overthe rear and front edges respectively of said reservoir for carrying the paper to and beneath-said brush, the rear carrying roller being adapted to have the paper pass thereover and to distribute the paste, and the front carrying roller being adapted to have the paper pass thereunder and thence upward in front of said brush.
3. A paper-hanging device comprising a frame, a roller mounted in said frame and adapted to carry thereon a roll of paper, a
1 paste reservoir carried by said frame located over said roller and having a curved portion located rearward with respect to said roller, said curved portion having closable feed-openings therein, rollers for carrying the paper as it unwinds from said roll to a point in front of said reservoir, one of said rollers being located over the curved rear portion of said reservoir and having the paper pass thereover so that the latter is drawn rearward through and thence upward over and in contact with said curved portion, and. a brush positionedto engage the paper at a point in front of said reservoir. 4. A paper-hanging device comprising a frame, a roller mounted in said frame and adapted to carry thereon a roll of paper, a paste reservoir carried by said frame located over said roller and having a curved portion located rearward with respect to said roller and adapted for having paper pass in contact therewith as it unwinds from said roll, closable feed-openings in said curved portion of said reservoir, rollers carrying the paper as it unwinds to a point in front of said reservoir, one of said rollers being disposed to engage the reverse side of the paper and adapted to serve as a paste distributer, and a brush disposedover said reservoir and projecting in front of the latter in position to exert smoothing and applying pressure to paper after the latter has passed from the last of said rollers. I
5. A paper-hanging device L'Ulllpllolnil a frame, a roller mounted in said frame and adapted to carry thereon a roll of paper, a
paste-reservoir arried by said frame 10 "ated over said roller and having a portion located rearward tvith respect to said roller and adapted for having paper pa: in eontaet therewith as it unwinds from mid roll. said IGZtP-Witl'd portion of the reservoir having a channel in the interior face thereof and having feedopeningv hiding outward from said channel. a member disposed within said channel and having openings therein corre-- sponding to said t'eed openings, said 1nemher being adjustable to wart it opening into and out of register with said feed openings. and a brush nionnted over the front portion of atlld reservoir; and ad; pted to apply sealing pressure to a strip of paper as the latter is pa.. 1 in front thereof in unwinding from said wall.
In testinion whereof. I ati'ix in ignalt1re in presence of two subscribing witnessee.
