PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS K. MCINTYRE, OF WARNER, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
IMPROVEMENT IN HEDDLE-QONNECTIONS FOR LOQMS.V
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,807-, dated July 9, 1872.
Specification describing anew and Improved Harness-Strap for Looms, invented by THOMAS K. McINTYRE, of Warner, in the county of Merrimack and State of New Hampshire.
I propose to use metal straps for connecting the jacks of a loom-harness with the treadles or levers below, and the harness with take-up rolls above, or the cords working over them, the said metal straps being made in two parts, each with a loop at one end, the other ends lapping over each other and provided with teeth to engage together, the two parts being confined by a sliding-sleeve or keeper, which binds upon them when they engage each other, but may be slided upward to disengage them.
The object of having the said straps in two parts `and connected by these teeth is to allow of adjusting them to any length required. The said metal straps are much cheaper in first cost than the leather ones commonly used, and they wear much longer.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved harness-straps, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre- A is the bottom part of the strap, and B the top part, consisting of short plates of metal.,
with teeth Cupon one side for interlocking with each other on one end, and with a loop, D, on the other. These toothed parts are confined by a sleeve or keeper, E, adapted to bind the two together in the manner shown, but so that it can be readily lifted up above the top -of A, when required for disconnecting them.
. said loops are for connecting to the jacks at one end of the strap and to the treadles or levers, or when placed above the harness for vconnecting to the harness at one end, and to the wire rope or other device Working over the roller above the harness at the other end.
Having thus described my invention, Iclaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The metallic strap for loom-harness, consisting of the toothed plates A B, loops D, and a sleeve or keeper, E, combined and arranged substantially as specified.
THOMAS K. MGINTYRE.
