ceptacle having water contents that is to.
be heated and has for its primary object to provide a heater in which the parts are so constructed and associated that the water may be brought rapidly to a boiling temperature.
An object of the invention is to provide a heater in which certain parts are constructed to utilize the steam generated for agitating the contents of the receptacle to which the heater is attached.
Besides the above my invention is distinguished in the manner of forming the water container so that the greatest quantity of water in the container will be centered directly over'the flame of the burner and further for providing a flange for concentrating the heat around the bottom of the container.
Another feature of my invention is the manner of forming a pipe section and a perforated head of one piece and threading a plate on the section adapted to cooperate with the head for accomplishing a liquid ti ght connection.
With these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein;
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional. view through a receptacle showing my device attached thereto.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional view r through the device.
Fig. 3 is a lop plan view of the container. l ig. is a topplan view of the head. Fig. 5 is a sectional view through the head. At the start I wish to call attention to the fact that although I show my device attached to a receptacle for washing clothes I wish it to be umlerstood that. the same may be conncctcd to various other receptacles in which the contents of thereceptacle are to be agi ated as well as heated.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 17, 1918. Serial No. 221,259.
The invention in one of its forms consists of two pipe sections 1 and 2 connected by a coupling 3. The upper end of the sec tion 1- is formed in a head 4 provided with perforations 5 by means of which the interior of the section communicates'with the receptacle 6 to which the de-' interior of the vice is attached. Threaded upon the pipe 1 is a plate 7 cooperating with the head 4 so as to insure a liquid tight connection between the receptacle and the pipe 1.
The lower end of the pipe has a threaded connection with a water container 8. This water container consists of a body portion.
9 havihg a dome shaped top 10, with a re suit that the greatest capacity of the container is arranged at the center thereof directly over a source of heat to be described later, thereby heating the water more rapidly. The bottom 1]. is connected to the body in any suitable manner such as by welding and is provided with 21' depending.
purpose of concentrating flange 12 for the burner 13 upon the hotthe heat from the torn.
This burner 1.3 is provided with arms 14 connected to the flange by thumb bolts 15*.
To complete the invention the container has connected thereto a drain spigot 15.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it should be apparent that in a very simple manner I am able to heat the contents of the receptacle 6 and to agitate the articles therein. This is accomplished by the burner 13 which immediately brings the water within the container to a boiling temperature with a result that the steam escaping therefrom bubbles through the water up through the pipe section 1 and forcibly escapes from the perforations 5 against the .clothes in, the receptacle 6. These steam bubbles passing through the clothes loosens the dirt and expedites the cleaning operation at the edge thereof, a burner detachabl y' 5 concentrating the heat of the burner upon the bottom of said container, a pipe 00111 munlcatlng with the contalnerand terminating in a head provided with a plurality of small discharge openings and a plate threaded on the pipe and coiiperating with 10 the 'head for clamping the heater to the receptacle.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ANGER C. CARLSON.
