Be it known that I, LUCY BRETT, a citizen of the Unit-ed States, and resident of Forest Hills, inthe county of Queens and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bandeaux,

of which the following is a specification.'

The object of this invention is to provide a serviceable and ornamental bandeau ot simple, cheap and inexpensive construction which can be readily applied to or removed from the head of the wearer.

The invention, generally stated, coinprises a body having a pliable metallic core and a pliable non-metallic covering, the eX- treniities of said body being bent back upon and secured to the main portion of the latter to form elongated loops which are adapted to be bent into hook-form and connected one with the other .when the device is applied to the head of the wearer.

The invention also comprises various features of construction which will be hereinafter described and claimed.

In the drawings- Figure 1 illustrates my improved bandeau as in actual use.

Fig. 4 is a similar view of one end, with the free ribbon end removed to expose the clip or staple connection.

My improved bandeau in the form selected for illustration, comprises a pliable nonelastic body portion composed, preferably, of a central metallic core, 10, of soft copper or iron wire; a covering of rubber, 11, on the core; a covering of braided thread, 12, on the rubber, and a covering of spirally .wound ribbon, 13, on the braided thread. The ends of the body are bent inward and fastened upon the main part of the body, sok

.free `ends of the body are fastened in 'any .also to secure the free ends of the latter to the body. These ends, together with the clips or staples, are covered and concealed by pieces of ribbon, 16, or the like, knotted thereon, as at 17, so that the free ends of the'ribbon pieces extend loosely from the body, and thus, when the loops are hooked together, complete 'the general effect of a bow, as illustrated.

To apply the device above described it is iiexed about the head similarly to an ordinary head band, and the looped and hooked ends are then connected one with the other, thus eiectually retaining the device firmly yet comfortably in place, as illustrated in Fig. l. When thus applied the device not only etfectually keeps the hair of the ,wearer in place but it presents a neat and ornate appearance. By reason of the 'pliability of 'the device it can be readily adjusted upon upon and secured to the main part of the j latter to form elongated loops adapted to be bent into hook-form and connected one with the other.

The herein describedbandeau comprising a body having a pliable metallic core and a pliable non-metallic covering, the extreiiiities of the said body being bent back upon the main part of the latter to form 100 elongated loops adapted to be bent into hook-form, and ribbon ends covering and concealing such extremities and presenting, in conjunction .with the loops, a bow-like appearance when the loops are bent into hook-form and connected one with the other.

The herein described bandeau comprising'a body having a metal core, and a pliable non-metallic covering including a spirally-wound ribbon, the extremities of said body beingbent back upon the main part of the latter to form elongated loops, means for ixedly fastening each of said extremities to the main part of the body, and ribbon ends covering and concealing the said extren'iities and fastening ymeans and presenting, in conjunction with the loops, a boW-like appearance when the loops are bent into hook-form and connected one with the other.

The herein described bandeau comprising a body having a pliable metallic core and a pliable non-metallic covering including a spirally Wound ribbon, the extremities of said body being bent back upon the main part of the body to form elongated loops, clips embracing and connecting said eX- treinities rand the adjacent parts of the body, and pieces of ribbon-like material covering and concealing the said extremities and clips, said material having loose ends which present, in conjunction with the loops, a bow-like appearance When the loops are bent into hook-form and connected one with the other.
