IMPROVEMENT IN TOOTH-FASTENINGS FOR HORSE HAV-RAKES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,749, dated July 9, 1872.
Specification describing certain Improve ments in Horse-Rakes, invented by BARTON PIOKERING, of Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio.
My invention relates to a fastening for the rake-teeth.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the fastening. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section, with the central part set at a right angle to its true position.
.A is the supporting-standard, the vertical part F being of uniform, thickness with a circular orifice through it, and which is sustained by a suitable base for attachment to the trans-- verse horizontal bar'of a sulky hay-rake. B is a circular piece having a flanged head and flattened at its opposite end, forming shoulders G G, and has also an orifice through its center. The flange rests against one side of the verticall standard, while the hook of the tooth-D bears against the opposite side, surrounding the flattened portion, and is secured firmly against the shoulders by the bolt 0. At Fig. 2 is shown, in dotted lines, the position of the tooth between the Washer E and the shoulders. An eye may be formed on the tooth instead of the hook, and thenit would be necessary to make the flattened portion round to the shoulder.

I claim as my invention- The rake-tooth fastening composed of the parts A, B, and D, constructed and arranged as described.
