Application filed September 24, 1917.
entially adjust to the contour of a figure,
and means connected to the band for holding it against upward or downward movement.
The novel features of the invention are more fully described in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which the figure represents a perspective View of a garment embodying this invention.
In this drawing the letter a designates a band which is formed of elastic webbing made to stretch circumferentially. The band when worn girdles the thighs below the hips and by reason of its elasticity shapes itself to the configuration of a body. The ends of the band are fastened together by means of hook and eye connections 6. There are a number of rows of the eyes as shown at 0, so that the circumferential dimensions of the band can be adjusted to fit different sized persons.
Above the band is arranged a belt d suitable for drawing about the waist of a person. The belt is made of elastic webbing so that it will compensate when the waist portion of the body is distended or contracted. One end of the belt is provided with a buckle specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 19, 1918.
Serial No. 192,941.
e adapted to engage any one of a series of holes 7 located in the opposite end of the belt. The belt can thus be adjusted to fit any sized waist.
A pair of vertically positioned elastic webbed straps g connect the band with the belt. Each strap can be adjusted lengthwise to increase or shorten the distance between the belt and band by means of a buckle h slidingly secured to one end of the strap. This form of adjustment for the straps adapts the garment to persons of various heights. A pair of elastic hose supporters 2' are suspended from the lower portion of the band.
When the band is in place about the thighs, the strap connections in combination with the hose supporters prevent upward or downward displacement of the band. The straps being elastic will compensate for the movement of the body between the waist and thighs for example, when stooping or sitting.
I claim 1. A garment comprising a band formed of a section of elastic webbing adapted to girdle the thighs, a belt made to encircle a waist, and elastic means connecting the band with the belt.
2. A garment comprising an elastic adjustable band formed of a single piece of webbing adapted to girdle the thighs, an elastic belt made to encircle the waist, and vertically adjustable elastic straps connecting the band with the belt.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MADELINE V. VINCENT.
