Be it known that I, ABRAHAM FRIEDMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Head-Garment, of which the following is a specification. n
his invention relates to head garments.
The object'of 'the'invention is to aord protection for the head and neck, the garmenthaving an eye shieldy shaped to it snugly upon the upper portion of the face or, when not in "use, to t snugly upon 'the crown portion ofthegarment where it will notj be conspicuous or cause rdiscomfort to the wearer.
A furth whereby, can be attached to necessitating the use r Objectis to of the eye shield, the face guard being so proportioned as to entirely cover the face, the nose having a protecting means extending from the guard.
Another object is 'to provide means-whereby the` neck portion of the garment can be attached'readily'to or `detachedfrom a coat or the like thus to protect the neck of 'the wearer while the garment is in use but permitting the easy removal of the garment from the coat.
With the foregoing and other Objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination land arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
the accompanying drawings the preferred forms of the invention have been shown.A
In said drawings Figure l is a perspective view of the head garment with they face guard in position for use.
Fig. 2 is a section through the back half of the garment, said section being taken on the line 22, Fig. 1.
" Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the garment with the face guard removed and showing the eye shield in position for use.
Fig. 4e is a section through a portion of a cot collar and of the head garment and this crown portion, of fabric sewed to-y edges, as at 5,` and opened, will fit snugly the wearer bottom portion of the hood being ldesigned the means fondetachably connecttogether as at 3 to garment.`
and extend about the neck, the' to extend into the neck portion of the coat of the wearer. The crown 6 eXtendsforwa-rdly beyond the frontedges oflthe apron portion thereof so that the forehead and cheeks of the wearer are protected while the face is exposed.
Snap or glove fasteners 8 are secured to the garment 'along thefront' edge of the crown and additional Afasteners 9are secured along the edges 7 ofthe hood'6. Other fasteners 10 are secured to the `sides of the garment close to the seam 4 and above additional like fasteners 11 on apron.v
As shown in Fig. 1 the fasteners 8 and 9 are designed to detachably secure to the head garment the top and side portions of a face guard 12 formed of a iiexible material and provided at proper points with eye openings 13 having pieces 14 of transparent material secured thereaoross. A nose receiving opening 15 is formed in the guard and is bridged by a nose protector 16 which projects beyond the face guard and is unsecured at its lower end. Openings 17, preferably made by securing eyelets in the faceguard, are provided below the opening 5 and constitute air vents to facilitate breathing. Obviously this face guard can be placed in and removed from position readily and affords protection from the elements for all portions of the face.
While the face guard is in use an eye shield 18 can be held tothe back portion of the garment by the fasteners 10 and 11 detachably engaging the corner portions of the shield. When the face guard is not in use the eye shield can be secured to the front of the head garment as shown in Fig. 3, the fasteners 8 and 9 being used for this purpose. Asshown, the eye shield is made of a single piece of fabric provided at its portionfof the hood center with a t-shaped incision 'i9 Wliioli divides the shield into two Wings and Wliioli royides a space tlirongli which tile nose of the "wearer will project when the sliield is in position across tlie upper portion .o' the tace of tiie wearer. in eye opening .20 is provided in eaoli of the Wings and the openings are covered With pieces of transparent material as indicated at 2l.
