As clearly shown in the drawings, the de vice consists of a box of such a size as to properly inclose the typewriter or other machine and securely hold the frame to which the typewriter is secured. As is well known typewriting machines are provided with four threaded openings in the bottom thereof for screws to be used to secure the ma chine to a table, desk or other supporting means. In the form of the invention illustrated, in Figs. 4:, 5 and 6 the strips 10 having the apertures 11 therein for the screws 12 are of such a length that their ends may be mounted directly in notches or seats 18 formed in the sides 16 and 17 of the box instead of in cleats 19, as in the other form. These notches 18' are of such a depth that when the ends of the strips 10' are placed therein the bottom face of the cross strips 13 will lie flush with the bottom edges of the box so that when the frame is positioned in the box said cross strips 13 will be in contact with the removable bottom 15.

or shocks are transmitted to the machine only indirectly and more or less yieldingly. Obviously this frame for this reason is a great improvement over the oak board heretofore used. It will be observed that the notches 18 and 18' prevent movement of the frame in three directions and that the cover 7 or bottom 15 of the box acting against the cross strips prevents movement in the fourth irection. As the machine should be shipped of the box may be marked with directions to keep that side upward.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:

I l. The combination with a closed shipping box'for machines of the character described, having a. detachable bottom, of

parallel spaced resilient strips and means for securely attaching a machine thereto, seats in the box near the bottom thereof in which the ends of said strips are removably fitted without freedom for horizontal movecurely attaching a machine thereto, seats in the box near the bottom thereof in which the ends of said strips are removably fitted without freedom for horizontal movement, and means for spacing the ends of said strips from the bottom of the box and preventing vertical movement of said ends, including cross strips arranged at the ends of said resilient strips on the side opposite the machine, the intermediate portions of the resilient strips forming a spring support for a machine.
