A, in the drawing, represents a box, made of metal or other material, of suitable length and width, and open on two sides at a for the admission of air from without, and at b for the entry of the air to the room. The opening at b may be regulated in,size by means of slides or gates d, sothat the quantity of air to be admitted may be regulated. Between perforated plates or sieves e e which are arranged within the box A is placed a layer, f, of cotton ber. In fact, the entire box may be filled with such fiber, more or less, the saine serving as a filter for the air admitted to the building.
