Be it known that I, JAMES T. BIGKEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mountain View, in the county of Howell and Stateof Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dispensing Devices, of which the following is a specifi- I cation, reference being had to the accom panying drawings.

This invention relates to certain improvements in dispensing devices, and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character especially designed and adapted for use in connection with ice cream, and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved dispensing device of this general character WlllCll 1s the members are reversely directed so that one of said members maybe employed without interference or obstruction being offered by the second member.

. An additional object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device of :this general character wherein the member employed for dishing out ice cream is provided with means whereby the contents thereof may be. ejected therefrom with convenience and facility.

Another'object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved, device of this general character including a holder consisting of a pair of coacting semi-cone shaped elements wherein the marginal 1 portion of one of said elements is provided with a recess to afford means whereby a digit of a hand maybe directly engaged with a cone arranged within the holder to permit convenient removal of the cone and to prevent the slipping of the cone when the sections or elements of the holder are being opened.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved ice cream cone filler whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advanta- Specification of Letters Patent.

geous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be the better understood, 1 will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure l is a view in top plan of a dispensing device constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;

Fig. 2 is a View partly in elevation and partly in section of my improved device as herein disclosed; and

Fig. 3 is a view in front elevation of my dispensing apparatus as herein set forth.

As disclosed in the accompanying drawings, the cone holder H consists of a pair of semi-cone shaped sections a and 7) which, when in closed position, afford a hollow, inverted, frusto-conical body adapted to snugly receive and entirely inclose a cone to be filled with cream. Secured to the outer faces of each of the sections a and b are the end portions of the handle members (i having the portions 0 thereof in close proximity to the holder twisted substantially at 90 degrees and .in crossedrelation. Disposed through the twisted portion 0 is a removable member or bolt 7 which serves as a pivot to permit relative movement of the sections a and b of the holder. Secured as at g to the inner end of one of the handle members cl adjacent the outer end thereof is a fiat springewhich is in contact with the inner edge of the flattened portion a of the second handle member 9 and the spring 6 serves to normally maintain the sections a and 7) in separated relation. The outer or free end portion of one of the handle members (Z is provided with an inwardly directed extension h adapted to contact with the inner face of the outer end portion of the second handle member d whereby the relative inward movement of the handle members (Z is limited so that injury to the sections a and b of the holder by excessive pressure is prevented. I also find it of particular advantage to provide a longitudinal marginal portion of one of the sections. as a, of the holder with the recess or notch z to afford an opening through which a digit of a hand may be directed to directly engage a cone within the holder to prevent it from slipping down when the sections a and b are being separated, and also to facilitate the extraction or Withdrawal of the filled cone after the sections a and b have been sufiiciently separated. It is preferred that the recess or notch i be positioned at a point materially inward of the larger end of the section.

Clamped to the pivoted portion of one of the handle members d through the medium of the removable member or bolt 7 is a flat arm 1 having its outer end portion suitably secured to the closed end 2 of the disher D. The disher'D is substantially cylindrical in form and has its working or open end disposed in a direction away from the larger or Working end of the holder H and with its tially its axial center with an outstanding stem 4 disposed through a suitable opening in the closed end 2 and the outer end of the arm '1. The outer end portion of the stem 4: is provided with a head or enlargement 5 afforded bya nut or the like and interposed between said head or enlargement 5 and the outer end of the arm 1 is an'expansible member'6 herein disclosed as a conventional coil spring encircling the stem 4, The member 6 serves to maintain theplate or disk 3 normally in contact with the closed end 2 of the disher D. i

After the disher D has been forced through the cream to fill the same, the contents orload withinthe disher may be read- 'il'y ejected therefrom by 'exerting pressure on theouter'end of the stem t by a'digit' of a d o a With the use of my improved device as herein disclosed, it will be at once self evident that the same may be readily employed with convenience and rapidity in the dispensing 'of ice cream cones or in the dishing out of ice creamfand thereby eliminate the necessity of employing two different devices, as is now generally required. It will also be understood that the connection between the arm 1 and a handle d will permit the disher D to be adjusted relative to the holder H, as may best meet the requirements 1 racti worn the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that an ice cream disher constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly .well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated and it will also beobvious that my invention is susceptible of some changes and modification Without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as'hereinafter claimed.

I claim 1. A device of the character described comprising a dispensing member adapted to be clipped within a receptacle, an operating handle therefor, and a second dispensing member supported by the handle and also adapted to be dipped within a receptacle, said dispensing members being: 'reversely directed, the working end of the second dispensing member being substantially ilush with the end portion of the first dispensing member opposite to its Working end.

2. A device of the character described comprising a dispensing member adapted to be dipped Within a receptacle, a handle therefor, an arm extending laterally from said handle capable of swinging movement relative to the handle, and a second dispensing member secured to the outerportion of the arm and also adapted to be dipped within a receptacle, the axes of said members'being arranged substantially in'parallelism and the Working ends thereof reversely directed. i i
