My invention relates to headlights and has for its object to provide' an improved socket therefor especially adapted for use with two filament electric light bulbs wherein the filaments are extended diametrically or transversely of the axis of the bulb. l

The numeral 4 indicates a concave reflector provided with a rigid and permanently secured rearwardly extended axial tube- 5 that constitutes the outer element ofthe lamp socket. VThe lamp socket further comprises an inner tube 6 that is telescoped within the tube 5 and is rigidly secured thereto, so that it isheld againstboth endwise and rotary adjustments. Preferably, the said inner tube is thus rigidly held by anchoring lips 7 `and 8 integral, respectively, with the tubes 5 and 6, the lip 7 being turned against the outer end of the tube 6 and the lip 8 being bent upward through a notch 9 in the said tube 5 and overlapped with the top at the rear portion thereof. 'The rear portion of the inner tube 6 is shown as'provided with a xed bushing 10 in which is rigidly secured an in`v sulatling plug 11 from which a vforwardly spring-pressed contact plunger 12 projects axially. y
The socket further comprises'a holding "collar 13y which has a smooth or simple ecce-.tric inner end portion 14 rotatably inounte'd in the front end portion ofthe socket tube 6. vAs shown, said eccentric 14, at its inner end, carries a centering ring 15 of insulating material.

On the shank of the bulb is a'inetallic contact sleeve 18 having outstanding lock lugs adapted to be inserted through grooves 20 in the holding collar 13 and to be turned into engagement witha shoulder 21 o'the interior of said collar. One of the wires 17 is,elect.rically connectcd-to the collar 18, another is electrically connected to an axial contac'tt22 on the inner j end of the bulb shank, anldf'the other is connected to a contact ring 23 in' the rear end of ythe bulb shank,`as shown, for example, 1n my pending application S. N. 102,440, filed o'f date, June 8th, 1916, and etitledVLamp socket. The Contact 'plunger 12 engages the axial contact 22 and the sleeve 18- is grounded through the socket. The numeral 21 indicates .a coiled spring that're-,acts against the insulating plug 11 and against the shoulder of theinsulated spacing ring- 15, and engages the annular contact 23 of theY I bulb shank. It will, of course, be understood that of the three wires of the supply circuit, one will be connected to the plunger 12, another to the spring 24, l and the other, or third, to the socket. l
The socket construction illustrated is especially adapted for use in connection withA electric lamps or light bulbs thatare made in accordance with the process disclosed and claimed in my pending 'application S. N. 108,318 filed of date, July 10, 1916 and entitled Electric light bulb and yprocess of .making the same, and which bulbs do not require adjustment vaxially of the reflector. The present improved socket is'not adjusted axially, that is, all of its parts `.are permanently fixed against axial adjustments, but by rotation of the eccentric socket sleeve and by rotation of the-bulb shank Within said sleeve, the bulb`may be'adj usted transversely ofthe axis of the reflector to compensate for warping of thefilaments, and the filamentsI may be always maintained and positioned in the same vertical lplane. l i
