To all whom 'it may concern.:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR C. HOPKINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vehicle Roller-Jacks, of which the following is a specification.
This :invention relates to an improvement in vehicle roller jacks, and has for one of its objects to provide such a construction that stresses directed to the operating parts Will be adequately sustained when lifting" com paratively heavy loads. Another object is to provide 'su'cli a mountingr for the standard or lifting-post that it will be limited to a vertical movement. rthe invention also includes a flexible strand or cable as a substitute for levers, so that excessive Weight of parts may be avoided and economy in mano tacture1 may be attained, and such an arrangement for the cable and frame that they will lie closely adjacentto the floor to be unobtrusive.
With the foregoing objects in view and others to be mentioned hereinafter the in vention presents a novel construction, combination and arrangement or parts as described herein and claimed, and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, Wherein,

Referring to the drawing numeral 7 `indicates an axle, upon 'its ends being journaled the pair of Wheels 8. l provide a casting 9 having parts o and wlncli project, respcctively, above and below the axle, the part a being rovided with a pan' of opposed, rearward y projecting arms 10 for a mountaway side view of 'ing of a shaft l1 for journaled bearingsofa pulley 12. At 13 is indicated a pair or jack, one ot' the Wheels /wardly vided for the lower 'which carry a shaft 14 for a mounting of the pulley l5, the arms 13 being' .somewhat longer than arms 10, so that the pulley l5 may be disposed in a plane outwardly or rearwardly of the pulley l2.
The casting 9 is inade rigid with the axle by means of suit-able keys c (Fig, 2) and it is --provided with aV rectilinear channel 16 openin on its upper end.. Seated in the clianne is a standard or post 17 substantially of l.shape, its upper end being provided with a swivel 18 for engaging a load to be elevated, the lower end of the casting being provided vritha base-plate 19 (Fig. 2) to limit a downward sliding movement of the standard, an outward swinging move nient of the standard being prevented by a detent-plate 20 which is provided for the casting.
Means are provided to maintain the channel and the standard in a vertical position at all times, so that a load may be elevated Without undue vibration, this being accomplished, in part by a rearwardly projecting frame 21 consisting of n pair of side bars, best shown in Fig. 3, each preferably being rectilinear with upwardly projecting inner end-portions d for a rigid mounting on the eide, preferably by ineens of keys e as shown in Fig. 1.
@n account of the keyed connection as described, the parts may be conveniently manufactured and assembled. The frame, near .itsrear end, is supported upon casters 22, and is disposed normally in a horizontal position, and on account of the construction as described, the channel 16 are maintained at right angles to the frame.
