IMPROVEMENT IN HARNESS-SADDLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,025, dated J une 1S, 1872.
Specification describing anew and Improved Adjustable Harness-Saddle, invented by ELI- are screwed up the saddle will be rigidly se cured or adj usted.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of a harness-saddle constructed according to my improvement. Fig. 2 is a cross-section ou the line :v of Fig. l, and Fig. 3 is a top View of the adjusting and fastening plates.

The strong pieces of wood or leather, A, or other substance forming the base or tree on which the saddle is built, are not rigidly connected together at the top, and over them and the leather B by which they are covered I place a stiftening-plate, D, on each side, with long slotted holes for the screws E, terretscrews F, and the water-hook H, so that said plates can shift along said screws and be confined by them when they are screwed down. rI hese plates are formed on a true circle at the upper ends, which extend entirely over the top portion vof the saddle and lap each other f throughout the length of the circular parts, and one has a headed stud, I, which works in a dovetail-shaped slot, K, in the other, to keep the two plates in position when they are not clamped by the screws. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with the flexible portion ofthe saddle, as described, of the adjustingplates D, arranged to secure the said iexible part rigidly by the terret, water-hook, and other screws, substantially as specified.
