IMPROVEMENT IN REVCLVING CANISTERS FOR TEAS, &c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 127,976, dated June 18, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
I, WILLIAM M. HOYT, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented'an Improved Revolving Canister, of which the following is a specification:
The present invention relates to a recepta cle, which is provided with several compartments, and suitable means. for filling them at or near their upper parts, and also with means for drawing off the contents at or near their bottom parts, said receptacle being arranged to rotate on a suitable stand, in order that any one of the compartments may be readily reached, as the whole is hereinafter fully described a-nd shown.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 is an elevation of my improved canister; Fig. 2, a horizontal section thereof, looking downward. Figs. 3 and 4 are enlarged views, showing how the partitions may be held in place. A represents the body of the canister, and B the top, which may be made of any suitable material and size, and its inner part may be divided into any desired number of compartments by partitions J, or other convenient means. Every compartment is provided with a suitable opening, d, Fig. 1, and a cover, 0, of some form, to keep dirt from getting into the canister; and it is also provided with an opening, I, for the convenience of drawing oft the contents of the can, sliding doors, f, being. used to close the said openings when required. In order to bring any one of the compartments to the front, or where an operator is standing, the canister is arranged by a suitable stand, D, supporting a spindle E, to revolve easily. The present means for supportingthe partitions J is to slide them into the grooves L K, Figs. 2, 3 and 4, fastened to the hub and rim of the canister. Any other means, however, may be employed, suitable for the purpose. v
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a revolving canister provided with two or more receptacles, which hax e openings d communicating with them at their tops for filling them, and openings I at their bottoms, protected by suitable doors f, as and for the purpose set forth.
