ED ST ES- W F ER fzrns'riiv VIILLIAM BARRELET, orMAnsEiLLE; FRAN Q BUCKLE ATTACHMENT.3
To all whomit may concern:
Be; it known that I, JUSTIN RELET, a citizen of Switzerland, residing at 123 Rue Sainte, Marseille, France, have invented new and useful Improvements} in Buckle Attachments, of which the following is a specification. I
My invention relates tobuckles, and more particularly to an attachment therefor for securing a buckle to a strap. 6-
Anobjectof; theinvention resides; in the buckle attachment embodying my invention applied to a buckle;
Fig. 2 includes two views showing respectively the tongue of the buckle shown in Fig. l, in front and side elevations;
Figs. 3 and-4 are detail views showing in front and side elevation respectively, the buckle attachment shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 5 is a view showing in front elevation the attachment and the buckle shown in Fig. 1, having applied thereto one end of a strap Fig. 6 is a longitudinal sectional view of Fig. 5;
Fig. 7 is a view showing'a front elevation of the attachment, the buckle, and a ring, and one manner of connecting the ring to the buckle by means of a strap;
Fig. 8 is a longitudinal sectional view of Fig. 7; and
Figs. 9 and 10 are views showing in reverse elevations a plurality of attachments mounted upon a ring and the manner in which straps are secured to the ring by means of the attachments.
Referring to the drawings in detail and particularly to Figs. 3 and 4, G designates generally a buckle attachment which as here shown comprises a single length of rigid material such as wire or the like bent intermediate its ends to form a substantially rectangular frame L. As clearly shown in Fig. 3 the ends of the wire extend at right angles from the frame L for an appreciable dis- Specification' of Letters Patent.

an eye'E. The attachment L'is: connected to the buckle inthe manner. shown i nFig. 1,. l I
wherein the extensions M are pivotally con-V nected to oneside rail of the frame P by means of the eyes A. :The-tongue B is in terposed between the eyes so that relative lateral movement of the tongue and attach- A practical application of the invention is shown in Figs. 5 and 6. As here shown, one end of a strap G extends through the frame L, around the adjacent side rail of the frame P, and then rearwardly again to the frame L. When the strap G is under tension, the buckle and attachment assume the positions 'shown in Fig. 6 whereby the two side rails of the frame L engage the strap laterally thus effectively securing the strap against displacement when in use. The strap G is provided with a rectangular opening F to accommodate the tongue B and the eyes A and E, the tongue B extending through the opening and thus affording additional means for preventing displacement or. longitudinal movement of the strap within the buckle.
In Figs. 7 and 8 is shown a slightly different application of the invention wherein the ring H is connected by means of the strap G to the buckle N. In thisinstance the attachment C is connected to the buckle N in a manner identical to that shown'in Figs. 5 and 6. The belt E is bent upon itself to provide a loop through which the ring I-I passes as is clearly shown in Fig. 8. The parallel strands of the loop are trained through the frame L of'the attachment B, while the free end *of the strap is passed around the adjacent side rail of the frame P and then between the parallel strands of the? loop. In this manner a permanent loop is formed, for retaining the ring H, in such to Fig. .1, P designates one form of buckle which may be used incone junction with the attachment C." This 'buc-' kle comprises in this instance a rectangular bear laterally against the parallel strands of the loop thereby securely holding the strap against displacement. V
In Figs. 9 and 10, is shown a further application of the invention. In this instance the attachment is utilized to maintain one end of the strap in looped formation about a ring J, and Without the use of the buckle. The strap is retained in looped formation in a manner identical to that shown and described ith relation to Figs. 5 and 6, the ring J being the equivalent of the adjacent side rail of tlie'frame P. This application of the invention is particularly adapted for use in the construction of harness When it is desired to interconnect a plurality of straps.
From the foregoing description taken in conjunction With accompanying drawings, it Will be evident that I have provided simple and efficient means for retaining the end of a strap to the buckle or other object, and Without the use of additional fastening means.
Although only one form of attachment embodying my invention is herein shoWn rious changes and modifications may be made Without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is: y
In combination, a buckle, an attachment comprising a rectangular frame, parallel spaced extensions formed on said frame and pivotally secured to said buckle, said extensions being disposed at an angle, with relation to said frame, and a strap having one end thereof folded upon itself to provide a loop, the intermediate portion of the loop I being formed With a slot, said loop being trained about the adjacent portion of the buckle and said slot receiving said extensions, the ends of the loop passing over the adjacent side portion of the frame and under the other side'portion thereof.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
