Be it known that I, JOSEPH M. MELBURG, a citizen of the United States,presiding at Polo, in the county of OgleV and State of Illinois, have invented new and usefulV Improvements in Outdoor Couches, of which the following is a specification.

This invention` relates to a bed couch adapted especially for out-door use and it has for its object to produce a device of this class of simple construction which will be equipped with a screen cover and with a weatherproof cover either of which may be used when required and both of which,

when not in use, may be moved to an out- V of-the-way position.

A further object of theinvention is to produce an outdoor couch of the type described having a screen cover and a weather-proof cover, each of semi-circular cross section and suitable guiding means for said covers en-Y abling the same to be moved beneath the body of the bed or couch when not in use.

With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the improved construction and novel arrangement land combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawing has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claims may be resorted to when desired.

The screen cover is composed of two hoops 24 guided between the flanges 22, 23 at each end of the couch, said hoops being connected together and spaced apartby longitudinal frame bars 25, screen material 26 being attached to the hoops and the bars so as to form a screen cover of substantially semicircular cross section or slightly in excess thereof so as to afford ample protection for the occupant of the couch, it-being understood that the spring 21 is disposed somewhat beneath the horizontal diameters of the end members in order to afford ample room for the occupant. In like manner the weather-proof cover'is composed of hoops 27 guided externally on the outer flanges 23, said hoops being connected together and spaced apart by longitudinal bars 28, the frame structure thus formed being covered with weatherproof material such as canvas which may be suitably treated to render it water-proof.

It will be readily seen that by simply rotating the hoop members at the ends of the respective covers above thev respective guide anges, either the screen cover or the weather-proof cover may be placed in position to protect the occupant of the couch, or both covers maybe moved to an out-ofthe-way position beneath the body of the couch. The construction of the improved It may be stated that when the suspending means are used, the legs or supporting members 16 may be dispensed with.

What is claimed is l. A couch comprising substantially circular end members, spacing and connecting means for said end members, a bed bottom supported below the horizontal diameters of the end members, concentric circular guideflanges secured on the inner face of each end member and substantially semi-circular cover members guided on said flanges, one of said cover members which is guided on the outermost flange being of a greater radius than the other cover member eXteriorly of which it is guided.

A couch comprising substantially cir- 'cular end members, spacing and connecting means for said end members, a bed bottom supported below the horizontal diameters of the end members, concentric circular guide flanges secured on the inner face of each end member and substantially sem1-c1r cular cover members having circular hoops i supported below 'the horizontal diameters of the end members, concentric circular guide iang'es secured on the inner face of each end member and substantially semi circular cover members guided on said flanges, each of' said covers being composed 'of circular hoops guided on the respective flanges, longitudinal bars connecting and spacing said hoops, and cover material secured on the frame thus formed.V
