TOY GAME.
Application filed March 19, 1917.
omy in construction with strength and .durability.
A further object of my invention is the provision of a rotatable plate having ball seats in combination witha. ball adapted to be caught in said seats.
Further objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent from the following description considered in connection with the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a top plan view of my invention with the ball and its cord broken away;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the ball and its cord;
Fig. 3 is a partial section on line 33 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 41 is a section on line -1-1 of Fig. 3.
In conjunction with the above described apparatus I provide a ball 18 which, by means of a cord 19 is secured to a screw-eye projecting upwardly from the center of plate 12. In the preferred embodiment of my invention the numbers 1, 2 and 3 are placed upon the plate respectively adjacent the Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 10, 1918.
Serial No. 155,636.
three ball seats 13 and the same numbers are placed upon the ball at spaced positions thereon.
In the operation of my invention the player grasps the handle 10 in his left hand. holding it substantially upright, tosses the ball 18 in the air above the plate and instantly spins the plate, catching the ball upon plate 12. The flange 1 f assists inguiding the ball to an adjacent seat as the periphery of the seat is spaced from the flange a distance less than the radius of the ball and the flange guides the ball about the periphery of the plate until it drops into one of the seats. In scoring the number of the ball seat into which the ball falls is added to the uppermost number upon the ball. Thus, if the ball drops into the seat numbered 3 with the numeral 3 on the ball uppermost the players score is 6, but if the ball drops into the seat numbered 1 with the numeral 1 on the ball uppermost the players score is only 2. I preferably employ a strong flexible section of fish line for the connecting cord between the plate and ball and utilize a hollow rubber ball which is of a diameter to be caught in the seats 13 but not to pass through them.
Vhile I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that one skilled in the art may make modifications thereof without departing from the spirit of the invention. I wish, therefore not to be restricted to the precise embodiment shown, except in so far as the same is limited in the appended claim.
I claim:
The combination with a handle having a cylindrical socket opening downward from its upper end, of a rotatable plate provided with ball seats, a central projection de pending from said plate and loosely fitting said socket, said projection being peripherally channeled within the socket, and a pair of pins having their ends fixed in'the walls of said socket and their central portions traversing said channel on opposite sides of the projection.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
, ERWIN SCHMIDT.
