To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN Ross STEVEN- soN, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland and the Isle of Man, and a resident of Glasgow, Scotland, bleacher, have invented new and useful Improvements in stentering or Stretching Devices for Steam Can-Drying Machines for Textile Fabrics, being a division of my application for U. S. patent, Serial No. 996, filed Jan. 7, 1915, of which the following is a specification.
This invention comprises improvements in stentering or stretching devices for steam can drying machines for textile fabrics, such as that described and illustrated in my English Patent #8553, A. D. 1912.
The steam can drying machine to which the improvements of this invention are applicable consists of a series of revolving heated cans or cylinders arranged parallel with each other and with their axes horizontal. Above the cans and intermediate of same a series of grooved wheels is arranged and the fabric which is held by stentering pins or clips arranged in the form of a chain is passed around the lower surface of the cans. The pins or clips are attached to blocks or carriages which are guided in suitably formed and placed rails around the cans, and in the grooves of the wheels above.
According to this invention I provide connecting bars fitted between the wheels and having an adjustable or telescopic construction so that the distance between said wheels may be varied and regulated as desired, the arrangement being such that the wheels and their connecting bars form a series of guiding frames over which the cloth passes while the carriages travel in the grooves of the Wheels.
In order that others skilled in the art to which the improvements of this invention relate may properly understand same I have hereunto appended one sheet of explanatory drawings in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the inner side of one of the wheels, Fig. 2 is a plan of same, and Fig. 3 is a section of one of the bars.

5. A drum for cloth drying machines con sisting of two wheels; a series of bridge pieces respectively connected to said wheels; bars extending between said wheels and each having enlarged ends movably engaging the bridge pieces on the wheels to form universal joints therewith.
