To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, JAcoB DANZ, 2d, a citizen of the United States, residing atLos Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, `have invented new and useful Improvements in Shell- Bags, of which the following is a specification.

rIhis invention relates to a shell bag especially adapted for use in trap shooting. In trap shooting it is usual to have a number of stands from each of which a contestant shoots a certain number of rounds. After shooting a round at one stand the contestant moves on to the next where he shoots another round, and progresses in this Way until he has completed the stands. It is common )ractice to shoot live rounds at each stand. Contestants often become confused as to the number of rounds shot at atime, thereby occasioning disputes.

An object of my invention is to provide a bag in which a large quantity of shells may be carried, and which has compartments or pockets for holding a limited number of shells, preferably the number for a single round, whereby the pockets may be filled and the gun loaded with shells taken from the pockets. Thus, upon the pockets being .emptied the contestant knows that he has shot the required number of roundsfor a stand. He may then move to the next stand, rell the pockets and shoot the required number of rounds without trouble of keeping count. i

I have illustrated an embodiment of my invention in the accompanying drawing, in which:

'lhe construction shown in the drawing comprises a suspender strap A which is intended to be passed around the neck, a belt B, and a bag C. I do not, however, limit myself to the particular means of suspension shown herein, but any suitable means for suspending the bag C from the body `may be used. n the construction shown herein the bag C is formed preferably of fabric; the rear wall 3 extends above the front wall Il. The rear and front walls are sewed together along the side and bottom edges leaving the top open. The top of the rear wall 3 is sewed or riveted to one end pf the belt B. A snap 5 is provided to fasten the belt about the body. The suspender strap A is riveted or otherwise suitably secured to the bag.

Cartridge pockets are disposed along the front of the bag and near the top edge there of. The cartridge pockets are formed by sewing to the front wall Ll a piece of fabric 6. The upper edge of the fabric is disposed in line with the upper edge of the wall l. The lower edge is sewed to the front wall and the fabric is suitably plaited and sewed to the front wall to provide pockets T, 8, 9, 10 and 11, each large enough to contain one cartridge. The upper edge of the pockets is preferably turned over, as clearly shown in both figures of the drawing, and a wire distender 12 is inserted therein so that'the pockets are held in a normally distended condition. By inserting this distender l2 along the upper outside edge of the pockets I am enabled to insert cartridges with little or no trouble. In this manner abag is provided which will contain a large number of shells.

When the contestant is ready to shoot his stand, he takes the shells from the bag fill ing thecompartments 7, 8, 9, l() and l1.

He may now load his gun from the pockets, and when the pockets have been emptied he will have shot five rounds. He is then ready to move to the next stand and again fills the cartridge pockets. If ten rounds are shot at a stand the contestant may fill the pockets twice. I do notlimit myself to five pockets, but any fixed number may be used.

It is obvious that I have provided a light, compact article which may easily be supported from the body without interfering `with shooting. It also fixes the number of rounds shot without requiring a record to be kept by the contestant.

What I claim is:

An .ammunition bag, comprising a container for ammunition formed of canvas, open 'at `its upper end for the reception of ammunition and having a plurality of separate shell compartments disposed along its relieve the weight on the body securing belt when said container is filled with ammunition.
