THOMAS J. FATJ'O, OF HOUSTOIL TEXAS.
HOLDER FOB GOLF CLUBS.
Application filed August 8, 1924. Serial No. 730,819;
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a holder for golf clubs.
One object of the invention is to provide a'golf club holder, or bag, in which the various clubs. used in playing golf, may besecurely held in such manner that they will not be liable to drop out and become lost, and so that the desired club for making any play, or stroke, can be. readily and quickly obtained. from the holder by the player.
Another object of the invention is to provide a golf club holder which is convenient in use and wherein all of the clubs game, may be easily car- The figure shows a perspective view of the holder, partly broken away.
Referring more particularly'to the drawing the numeral 1 designates a bag, cylin-.
drical in general contour and formed of a suitable stifi' material, such as leather. The bottom end of the holder is closed and the other end is open. The holder has a suitable shoulder strap 2, secured thereto, for
convenience in carrying. Secured to the open end of the. bag 1 there is a collar 3, formed of leather, or other'stifi' material, and this collar is further stiifen'ed by the metal rings l, 4, spaced apart therein. The collar 3 has the oblong slots 5, out therethrough and spaced apart and. extending lengthwise withrespect to thebag. There is a flexible strap 6, also preferably formed of leather, and passed inwardly and then outwardly through alternative slots, so as to form inside pockets, or' loops, as 6-. The grips, or handles of the clubs are inserted through the respective loops 6, with the club heads projecting outwardly beyond the bag, as shown, foridentification, when any particular club is desired to make a play.
One end of the strap 6 has a hasp .7, and the other end thereof is. provided with slots,
as 8, to receive said hasp. When the clubs are not in use in a game, the strap 6 is drawn one against the other. i
an example of which tightly around the holder and secured by means of the lock 9, inserted through said I ha'sp,'and the loops'6 thus drawn tightly against the club handles to hold the clubs securely in place.
. l/Vhen the bag is not in use. the clubs, if
not secured therein, as described, will lean or lie over to one side of the bag and eventu- I ally will often become slightly bent; but
when the clubs are secured in the bag. as descr bed, they will be suspended in upright 'pos1t1on-and there will be no tendency of the clubs to bend or warp.
Furthermore, when the bag described is used the metalheads of the clubs will be held apart and the headsand the plating thereof, 'willfnot become worn b y friction,
What I claim is I -1. A golf club holder including the combination with a, cylindrical bag, one end of- V which is closed and the other end of which is open, of a collar formed of stiff material surrounding the open end of the bagand secured to the material thereof, said I collar being provided with oblong I slots spaced apart and extending lengthwisewithrespect' to the bag, a flexible strapthreaded through. 3
said slots so as to form inside pockets or loeps which areadapted'to. receive golf sticks inserted therethrough and means for securing the free ends of said strap together.
2. A golf club holder including the com bination with a cylindricalfbag, one endof V whichis closed and the other end of which is open, of acollar formed ofjstiff material surrounding the open end of the bag and.
secured to the material thereof, :said collar being provided with oblong slots spaced apart and extending lengthwisewith respect to. the bag rigid rings embedded" in the collar,-one on each side of said slots, a flexi ble strap threaded through said'slots so as to form inside pockets or loops which are];
"adaptedto receive golf sticks inserted-therethrough and means for securing the free ends of said strap together.
In testimony whereof I have name to this specification.
