Application filed April 7, 1917. Serial No. 160,427.9.
To all whom t may concern.
Be it known that l, listini; B. N11-mar, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bay Minette, in the county of Baldwin and State ot Alabama, have invented new and useful improvements in Stationeryl-lolders, of which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to paper holders and is especially adapted for use in connection with typewriters for holding oii'iee stationery in convenient position..
rlhe object oi' the present invention 1s to provide a cheap and attractive receptacle which may be removably secured to a typewriter in a convenient position, the said receptacle being adapted to hold stationery of various kinds, such as letter heads, bill heads, envelops and the like.
A further object of the invention is to conn struct a device of this kind in which the weight of the paper or stationery contained therein will be located directly over the sup ports, in order that the device may be secured in position upon a typewriter in a manner not to interfere or obstruct the operation oi the same and at the same time will be located within convenient reach.
"With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the following` novel combination and arrangement of parts herein more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation ci a paper holder constructed in accordance with the present invention and illustrated as applied to a typewriter, said typewriter being indicated in outline by dotted lines.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the paper holder detached from the typewriter.
Fig. 3 is a central vertical longitudinal sectional view through the device.
Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional'view of the same.
Referring in detail to the drawings, a typewriter is indicated generally at A and a portion to which the supports of the paper holder are secured is indicated at B.
The device itself which constitutes the present invention includes a receptacle 10 and the supports 11.
The receptacle is preferably formed with a wire iframe and includes the sides 12., between which are provided a plurality et compartments 13, 1i, and l5, which are preiu erably rectangulaiin plan view and are of a convenient size to receive various kinds oi printed stationery. The front 16 or' the receptacle is open so as to provide an open iront end for each ot the various compartments. The rear portion ot these compartments is closed as indicated at 17, so that the various sizes oi' ypaper are so arrange-d as to place the weight at or near the Jfront end of the receptacle..
The supports 11 are located beneath this end or' the receptacle, these supports comprising the permanently secured sections 1S, which extend along beneath the body oi the receptacle and are formed at their iront ends with downwardly extending portions 19. These portions 19 are adapted to be remov ably secured within sockets 20 formed in the upper ends of each of the removable seetions 2l of the supports. rlFhe lower ends oi the sections 2l are provided with parallel engaging members 22, which are adapted to take over the portion B of the typewriter and to be secured thereon by means of the set screws 23. ln order to hold the sections 21 in theirV proper spaced relation, there are provided angularly arranged brace rods 24, which are secured to each of the said sec tions and to one another as shown at 25.
By reference to Fig. 1 of the drawings it will be seen that the device is secured to a typewriter within convenient reach ot the operator and that the compartments of the receptacle are so arranged as to place the majority oi the weight of its contents close to the supports 11, so as to relieve the weight from the unsupported end of the compartments. By forming the supports into the removably secured sections, it is possible to remove the holder from the machine without detaching the sections 21, so that the said holder may be carried to the stationery room to permit of it being conveniently lled, or ii desired the entire device may be removed from the machine by loosening the screws 23.
lt is believed that from the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings the construction and advantages of the invention will be apparent. The right is reserved to make such changes in the torni and proportion thereof. as will fall within the scope oit the appended. claim,
lill] nation a receptacle, said receptacle includ- 5 ing a plumlityfof horizontally disposed conipalftments arranged one -above the lother and open at one end, said compartments being of various depths und having their open ends varranged in vertical uiinelnent und :L snppoi't secured to sind recept-nele :1t the open end thereof, so :is to dispose the greatest weight near Suid support In testimony whereof 'l niiix my signature.
