Be itV known that'l, SIDNEY H. SONN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, boroughof Manhattan, in the county and Sita-te of New York, have invented a new and Improved Neckwear-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved holder for four-in-hand and similar neckties, Varranged to hold the neckwear neatly in position for displaying and examining purposes, to allow convenient removal of any one of the articles by the dealer, and to prevent shifting of the holder, and the articles carried thereby,`in a box or similar container.

In order to accomplish the desiredcresult, use is made of a'flat piece of stiff sheet material provided at its'head end with tapering sides and back flaps formingv continuations of the tapering sides, and a tying means attached to one of lthe iiapsl and extending across the other flap and around the articles held on the front and rear of the holder.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings formingapart of this specification, 1n which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The neckwear holder is arranged within a box`10 having a removable case 11, and the holder consists essentially of a body 12 in the form of a piece of stiff sheet material such as cardboard and the like, the piece'being approximately rectangular in shape and provided near the foot end with a transversely extending crease 13 for forming an angular foot 14 resting on the `bottom of the box 10 and abutting against the foot end of the said box, as plainly indicated in Figs.

The neckties 25- are superimposed and doubled up with the neckbands extending at the backof the body 12 and the end portions overlying vthe front of the saidbody 12. The tying band 20 ispasscd across the end portions of *thel neckties and then around the ack Hap y18 and'over the neckbands at the back of the body 12 to be then tiedto the retaining disk' 21 in the usualmanner thus securely holding the neckties in place on the bodyY 12 of the holder.y When thc body 12 is in position in the box 10 and the foot 14 abuts against the -footend of the box 10 then the head end of thebody 12-is a distance from the head endrof the box 10 to accommodate the vbent portions of the superimposed nec'kties thus 'insuring a snug fitting of the holder and its neckties in the box 10. It will also be noticed that by'having the tapering sides at the body 12 the latter can be conveniently taken hold of on the upper narrow portion to permit of removing the holder from the box 1 0 and replacing it therein together with the neckties attached to the holder. By providing the foot 14 the foot end of the body 12 is raised suiiiciently above the bottom of the box 10 to accommodate the superimposed doubled-up neckbands of the neckties Y25, and which neckbands present an aggregate thicknessin excess of that of the end portions ofthe neckties 25, as will be readily understood by reference to Fig. 1. It is understood that the

17 and 18 extend toward each other and engage the neckbands of the neckties to securely hold the neckbands in place at the back of theholder, it being understood that the tying band 20. after beingl fastened in placeiprevents the back flaps from accidentally opening and releasing the neckbands of the neckties. The back flapsv 17 and y18 converge and their corners rest on the bottom of the 4box 10, as plainlyfindicated in Figs. 1 and 4, thus providinga support for the body 12 at the head end of the box. Y

It will be noticed Ythat by the arrangement described the neckties are neatly held in position on the holder for displaying and examining purposes and the dealer can readily remove any one or all of the neckties on untying the band 2O to alloW removal of the neckties from the holder.

` It Will also be noticed that the holder with the neckties thereon is prevented from accidentally shifting in the box l0 thus preventing injury to the neckties by undue rubbing Within the box and its cover.

The neckwear holder shown and described is very simple in construction and can be cheaplyl manufactured.

, Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A holder for neckvvear and similar articles, comprising a body made of a flatpiece of stiff sheet material and provided at its head end with tapering sides and back flaps forming continuations of the tapering sides,

2. A holder for neckwear and similar articles, comprising a piece of stili'r sheet material of an approximately rectangular shape over the head end of which are doubledup' anumber of neckties, the end portions eX- tending on kthe front of the piece and the neckbands extending on the back of the piece, the said piece having tapering sides conforming to the correspondingly tapering band and fastener secured on one of the said back flaps and extending across the other back flap and around the front and rear portions of the neckties.

In combination, a box having a removable cover, a necktie holder Within the box and having a body made ofl a piece of sheet material provided with a foot resting on the bottom of the box and abutting against the foot end of the bjox, the other end of the body piece terminating a distance from the head end of the box, the neckties being doubled up over the head end of the body sheet and extending over the front and rear thereof, the doubled up portions fitting `intoy the space between the head end of the body sheet and the head end of the box, the said body sheet having tapering side portions extending from the head of the body sheet to points intermediate the head and foot ends of the body sheet, the said body sheet having integral back flaps forming continuations ofthe said tapering side portions and engagingA the rearnecktie portions, a tying band and a tying` disk secured to one back flap and extending across the other back flap and the ne'cktie portions at the front and back of the body.
