Securely mounted uponjthe front face of the molding 9, by means of retaining screws 10, is a flange-comb, flange-rail or flange plate 11, made of steel or other suitable metal, countersunk toreceive said screws 10, {ind of a width sufficient topermit the lower edgethereof to extend beyondrthe lower edge of the molding 9, so that the u per sidefof said flange-rail extends above the upper i edge or the molding. make the flange act as a resilient clamping V member it is slightly arched or bent between theends thereof as denoted by the numeral 19, to rigidly but removably clamp the pivot pin 20, of a hammenbutt 6, seatedin one of the channels 13, parallel to the hammer-rail 1. A fastening or mounting screw 21, isremovably engagedthrough each slot 16, and through one of theaperturesl t, of the flange-rail and is threaded into the hammer rail so that the head ofthe fastening screw contacts the V arched portion 19, and tends to straighten the same out thus tightly clamping the pivot-pin 20, in the channel 13, between the jaw 12, and the respective clamping lug 18, of the flange, to pivotally hold a hammer-butt in position upon theh'ammerrail, properly positioned at right angles to the hammers-rail.

In a piano action flange, a grooved flange-plate adapted to receive the pivot-pin of a piano-hammer seated therein, a hooked flange member adapted to contact said pivotpin and engage around one edge of said flange-plate, and means for removably holding said flange-plate and flange member together to pivotally hold the in a mounted position.

In a piano action flange, a flange-plate having an aperture therein, a grooved lug integral therewith, a spring plate on said flange-plate having a slot therein adapted to register with said aperture, a clamping tongue integral with said spring plate adapted to register with said grooved lug for pivotally holding a piano-hammer in position, a hook integrally formed on said spring plate adapted to engage around one edge of said flangeplate to hold the spring plate alined therewith, and a screw engaged through said slot and aperture to hold said grooved lug and clamping tongue together.

The combination with a hammer-rail, of a grooved flange-plate thereon, an arched spring-plate thereon, a hookintegrally formed at one end thereof engaged around one edge of said flange-plate, and a screw engaged through said plates and in said hammer-rail to hold said plates in position thereon and also acting to hold said plates together to |pivotally hold a piano-hammer in position on said hammer-rail.
6. The combination with a hammer-rail having a groove therein, a flange-plate secured thereon partly closing said groove, and a hooked flange contacting said flangeplate with the hooked portion thereof engaged around the lower edge of said flangeplate and contacting one wall of said groove to hold said flange and flange-plate from rotating and with said flange and flangeplate disposed at right angles to the edges of the hammer-rail.
