which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw- 1ngs.

This invention relates to certain improvementslnsoap holders and it is an ob ect of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this general character whereby the soap may be readily and con veniently removed therefrom.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved soap holder whereby the soap may be readily drained and wherein an air circulation is afforded for facilitating the dryingof the soap when positioned within the container.

The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved soap holder whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device is rendered simpler, less. expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more 'fully set forth.

The novel features of the invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a sectional view illustrating a soap holder constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention in applied position;

Fig. 2 is a view in rear elevation of my improved soap holder as herein embodied, detached; and

Fig. 3 is a view in perspective of my improved soap holder as herein disclosed, the con cting support being shownin section.

As herein embodied, S denotes a support of any character but indicated in the accompanying drawings as the top portion of a conventional wash board, and secured at its opposite end portions, as at 1, to said support S is the rod R having its central portion effect, as indicated at 2.

C denotes a container adapted to receive a cake of soap or the like and as herein disclosed said container C embodies a base plate 3 of predetermined dimensions and preferably rectangular in form and provided along one longitudinal margin with the perpendicularly related flange or wall 4. Adjacent its opposite ends said flangeor wall 4 is provided with the'slits 5 and the portion of material intermediate the slits 5 is forced outwardly to afford bearings 6 through which theofi's'etportion 2 of the rod R is directed and whereby the container C is pivotally engaged with said rod.

The outer or free longitudinal marginal portion of the flange or wall 4.- is outwardly disposed, as at '7, said outwardly disposed portion 7 being substantially Vshaped in cross section as is thought to be clearly shown "in the accompanying drawings.

The base plate 3 is provided with the upstanding end walls 8 preferably of a width less thanthat of the wall or flange 4E, and the marginal portion of the plate 3 opposite to the flange or wall 4 has its central portion cut away, as indicated at 9, for a purpose which will be hereinafter more particularly referredto. The base plate 3 and the fian'ge or wall 4t are also provided with the perforations '10 while the. marginal portion of the pla'te' 3. at the opposite side o'f the out-away portion 9 is provided with the flanges 11 directed toward the support S.

12 denotes a co1l spring encircling the OE- sct portion 1 of the rod R intermediate the bearings 6 and suitably aflixed to said odset portion 9 the spring 12 is provided with the extension 14 bearing against the wall or flange 4, whereby the base plate 3 is constantly urged toward the support S.

When a cake of soap is wet it is a well known fact that it is ofttimes diflicult to grasp the same but by my present invention it is only necessary that pressure be exerted upon the angular portion 7 of the flange or wall 4 to cause the base plate 3 to move away from the support S with the result that the cake of soap will be thrown against the fingers of the hand and thus enable the cake to be readily grasped. It will also be perceived that the cut-out portion 9 further facilitates the grasping of the soap by the thumb after the base plate 3 has been moved away from the support.

As soon as the pressure is removed from the angular portion 7 of the container C the base plate 3 will be automatically thrown toward the support S under the influence of the spring 12,

In combination with a support, a rod secured at its opposite end portions to said support, the central portion of said rod being oflset, a container comprising a base plateprovided along one margin with an upstanding wall, said wall at substantially its transverse center being pivotally engaged with the offset portion of the rod, longitudi nally spaced depending flanges carried by the opposite margin of the plate and adapted for contact with the support, ,the
