To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARIANNE GEISSLER, the widow of the deceased FRANZ Gmssnnn, manufacturer, a subject of the King of Prussia, and resident of Cottbus, 1n the Kingdom of Prussia, by w1ll of her deceased husband, the said FRANZ Gmssmm, am acting for his heirs; and that my husband, the said FRANZ Gnissnnn, before h1s death, had invented new and useful Ap aratus for Dyeing Wool and other Fibrous ubstances, of which the following is aspecification.
The present invent1on relates to a novel apparatus for dyeing wool and other loose fibrous substances, rags and artificial wool, and has the object to be directly employed in machines which are adapted for dyeing yarn in skeins or in cops. The use of the apparatus according to the present invention will, therefore, convert such dyeing machines into wool dyeing machines.
The present invention consists essentially of a four cornered box of the same outer size as the inset boxes used in skein or cop dyeing machines and the like. The essen tial feature of the box is that it may be opened th at the top and at one side, and that the opening at the top is rendered possible by the lid bein removable, while for openin the box at t e one side the whole one si e is removed. When such side has been fitted, and only the lid has been removed, the box must possess such reinforcement, that the wool may be stamped into it.
In the accompanying drawing an apparatus according to the present invention is exemplified.

The apparatus according to the invention consists of a box with a per bottom e and also a perforated lid d. Into the bottom a number of posts 6, in the embodiment shown six, are secured, preferably by means of dovetails. These posts have vertical grooves 6 Into these grooves the boards f forming the sides are fitted. Above the level of the liquid the posts are joined together by means of suitable cross beams 9. On the longitudinal side they are furthermore joined together by laths h, which form a guide fog the lid d. The said lid :1 1s sli into the groove formed by said laths. In a similar manner the one side wall i is slid into vertical grooves, which are cut in the posts directly, or which are formed by nailing separate vertical laths i to the same. The lid cl projects on the ri ht side beyond these gui e grooves so t at when the side wall 6 is slid into its vertical grooves, and the lid d is fitted into its grooves, the said lid will cover the upper edge of the side wall 2', so that the latter cannot be removed, without the lid having been previously removed.
The apparatus is employed in the following manner:
The box is assembled so that it forms a complete box with the exception of the lid 03, the side wall 11 thus bein fitted into position. Then the box is lled with wool, whereupon the perforated lid is fitted into position and the box is lowered by aid of a hook screwed into the cross beam into the dyeing machine. When the eing process is completed, the box is lifte in a similar manner from the dyeing machine. The lid is then opened, the side 2' removed and the whole box may be easily emptied at one time.
