IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP=CHIMNEY bLEANERS.
Specification forming m of Letters Patent No. 126,693, dated May 14, 1872.
To whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Lewis GRANGER, of Armada, in'the county of Macomb and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Device for Cleaning the Interior of Lamp-Chimneys, and I do declare thatthe following is a true and'accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon and being a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device, showing one of the springs uncovered, and the two springs connected at their free ends by a pin, which travels in a slot-guide in the stem.
This invention relates to the construction of a cheap, simple, and effective device for the purpose of cleaning the interior of glass chimneys for lamps; andconsists in the peculiar arrangement and operation of two curved. springs, and the necessary stem and handle.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents a handle, secured to the lower end of the round stem B, a section of which, near the opposite end, is flattened, as shown, and provided with a slot, 11 for the purposes hereinafter described. 0 O are curved springs, in the general form shown, which are secured to the stem at b by rivet-screws or other convenient and known device. At their opposite ends these springs are connected together by a rivet or screw, which travels in the slot at in the flattened section of the stem, while the ends of the springs rest one upon either side of said flattened section, as shown in Fig. 1.
