ATTORNEY To all it may concern f" Be itknown that I, Gnonen FLEMING, a citizenof the United States, residin at l rinceton, in the county of Collin and tate gof Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shotguns, of which thefoll'owing is a specification.
This invention relates toshot guns and primarily contemplates using'an electrical source of energy for im-pelling a shot.
Another-object of the invention is to pro r vide a trigger operated gun which closes an electrical circuit, immediately upon coni t tact with the shell, to create a spark for igniting a combustible fluid or material, throngh themedium of which the shot is projected.
Other objects as well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of my mvention will be more readily understood from the following description taken in connec- I tionwith the accompanying drawings and nal sectional view of the device, and

In the drawings, a gun stock 1 is provided, which has a barrel 2 pivotally associated therewith in the usual or any desired manner.
The stock 1 is provided with a longitudi nally extending recess in which an electrical source of energy 3 is mounted, which in this instance consists of'a pair of dry cells. The
recess is accessible through a door 4 hinged on the free terminal of the gun stock. A pair of circuit wires 5 extend from the battery and terminate in a chamber 6 formed in'said stock. A plate 7 is mounted upon the forward end of the stock 1, and has one end thereof bent at right angles, as indicated at 8, to snugly engage the inner terminal of the barrel 2 when the latter is in an operative position. The plate is provided in its right-angled end with an opening 9, and is furthermore provided in its body with an opening 10, in which a suitable insulating ring 11 is mounted. A trigger 12 is pivotally mounted in the stock, and has one end thereof projected through the opening 10. The terminal of sald end is bent at an angle, as indicated at 13, and constitutes a contact for one side of the circuit. The lower end of the trigger, as indlcated at 14, is formed to provide afinger P1608101 operatingthe triggerand is made of any suitable insulating material.
Anarm 15 is pivotally mounted upon the shank of the trigger 12 and is equipped with a contact plate 16 to which the other circuit wire 5 is grounded. It will be noted that the contact plate 16 is mounted in the chamber 6 so as to move freely therein upon operation of the trigger 12.
A shell 17 is mounted in the bore of the barrel 2. The shell is adapted to contain powder, gas or any other suitable combustible fluid or material which when ignited will impel or project a bullet therefrom. The shell has a spark plug 18 mounted therein, whereby contact of the end 13 of the trigger with said spark plug will close the electrical circuit, and cause the contents of said shell 17 to be ignited. In order to normally hold the trigger out of engagement with the spark plug a spring 19 is provided, one end of which is engaged with the arm 15 and the opposite end engaged with a portion of the stock 1.
From the above it will be obvious that when pressure is exerted on the trigger 12, the contact end 13 thereof will move through the opening 9 and into contact with the spark plug of the shell 17. The shell 17 is, of course, 1n contact with the plate 8, so that the circuit will be completed through the trlilgger 12 and plate 8 with an obvious res t.
It will be understood that the above de scription and accompanying drawings comprehend only the general and preferred embodiment of my invention and that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be made within the scope of the appended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention.
