KITCHEN ARTICLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 14, 1918.
Application led March 1I, 1918. Serial No. 221,820.
To all 'whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, CARL C. P. LUND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakfield, in the county of Fond du Lac and VState of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Kitchen Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in kitchen articles and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved article of this general character which may be employed with convenience and facility as a masher for potatoes or the like, for working color in oleomargarin, and for other purposes as the occasions of practice may require.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this general character which includes a body of glass and which has its working face or end protected by a metallic shoe and whereby a structure is provided which may be readily and conveniently cleansed and maintained sanitary.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved kitchen article whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be deiinitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure l is a view partly in elevation and partly in section illustrating a kitchen article constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention; and
Fig. 2 is a view in plan of the inner face of the metallic shoe or plate as herein ineluded.
As disclosed in the accompanying draw-.
ings B denotes a body preferably formed of glass and which, as herein disclosed, is in the form of a bottle and which has the outer end portion of the neck 1 thereof provided with an annular outstanding bead 2 and which arrangement permits the requisite attachment of a string or other flexible member to the neck portion 1 in order to afford y 'axial center is provided with an inwardly directed headed knob or extension 6. The knobs or extensions 5 and 6 are embedded within the body B whereby the shoe or plate 3 is effectively maintained in applied position. The shoe or plate 3 is applied to the body B at the time said body is being formed and the glass is in a molten state. It is thought to be clearly apparent that a device constructed as hereinbefore set forth is highly sanitary as the same may be readily and conveniently cleansed and there is no possibility of any matter being retained or absorbed by the body B. It will also be self-evident that the shoe or plate 3 will serve to prevent chipping orV other injury to the working end of the body during a working operation, such as mashing potatoes or the like or working color in oleomargarin.
From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a kitchen article constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim: n
A potato masher comprising a body formed of molded material, a shoe overlying the working end face of the masher, the
