To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL J. SCHWARZE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Adrian, in the county of Lenawee and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Bells, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to electric bells and more particularly to that type in which a round bell is mounted upon a round base. The invention comprises certain novel features of construction as hereinafter set forth.

A is a base formed of pressed sheet-metal having a marginal circular and rearwardlyextending flange B terminating in a laterally-extending portion C, and having at one or more points laterally-extending perforated ears D forming securing means therefor. This base is also provided with a circular depressed panel E cut away at one point F. G is a yoke-shaped member having its ends G reduced in width and threaded, said ends extending through perforations in the panel E of the base and being secured thereto by clamping nuts H. I is the bell which is centrally secured to the yoke G by a screw I. J is a Z-shaped member of magnetic material, such as soft iron, the central portion J thereof being secured to the depressed panel E, with the rearwardly-extending flange J 2 projecting through the aperture F,
and the flange J 3 projecting outward from said depressed panel. K are magnetic core pieces secured to the flange J 3 and extending parallelly above the depressed panel. L are magnetic coils mounted on said core-pieces. M is a bridge of non-magnetic metal extending between the opposite ends of said corepieces. O is a striker-bar slidably mounted in alined apertures in the flange J 3 and nonmagnetic bridge M. P is an armature secured to said striker and extending on opposite sides thereof in proximity to the poles of said magnet. This armature has an outwardly-extending portion Q which is returnbent. It is a resilient vibrator mounted on the rearwardly-extending flange J2 and extending outward through the aperture F into the rcturnbend Q, of the armature. The vibrator R forms a grounded electrode having a contact S mounted thereon, and T is an insulated electrode having a cooperating contact T. The electrode T is also mounted upon the rearwardly-extending flange J2, being insulated therefrom and extending outward through the aperture F. U lare terminal posts mounted on the peripheral flange of the base and extending radially outward therefrom. ln operation the circuit is closed through the cooperating contacts S and T and is broken by the movement of the armature, and returnbeni-J portion U thereof actuating the vibrator to withdraw the Contact S. This will impart a rapid reciprocation to the armature and to the striker-bar O, which latter is arranged with its free end in proximity to the inner edge of the bell. Thus during the reciprocation of this striker a succession of blows will be struck upon the bell.
What l claim as my invention is:
1. An electric bell, comprising a circular base formed of pressed sheet-metal having a marginal rearwardly-extending flange and a centrally depressed panel, a U-shaped yoke having its ends engaging perforations in said depressed panel and secured thereto, the central portion passing diametrically across said base, a bell centrally secured to said yoke and covering said depressed panel, an electro-magnet mounted within the yoke, an armature, a slidable striker on which said armature is mounted having its free end extending in proximity to the margin of said bell, and a vibrator for imparting a reciprocatory movement to said armature and striker. i

An electric bell, comprising a circular base formed of pressed sheet-metal having a marginal rearwardly-extending flange and a central depressed panel, a U-shaped yoke having its ends secured to said depressed panel on diametrically opposite sides thereof and a central portion extending across said panel above the same, a bell centrally mounted upon said yoke and covering said depressed panel, an electro-magnet mounted within said yoke upon said depressed panel, a reciprocatory striker-bar extending parallel to said depressed panel and centrally of said magnet, its outer end being in proximity to theA margin of said bell, an armature mounted on said striker bar, and a vibrator coperating with said armature to cause the reciprocation thereof.

An electric bell, comprising a base formed of pressed sheet-metal having a circular marginal flange yextending rearwardv 4within said yoke and comprising a Z-mem'- ber the central portion thereof being secured to ,said panel, one of the flanges extending outward from said panel and the other iange extending rearward through said aperture, magnet cores secured to said outwardly-extending flange and arranged parallel to each other and said depressed panel, a non-magnetic bridge'extending between the outer ends of said core pieces, a striker bar slidably secured in alined apertures in said outwardly-extending flange and nonmagnetic bridge, the outer end of said striker being in proximity to said bell, an armature mounted on the opposite end of said striker and provided with a return-bent portion, a vibrator mounted on said rearwardly-ex tending flange of said Z-member and extending outward vthrough said aperture into engagement with the returnbent portion of said armature, and an insulated electrode also mounted on said rearwardly-extending flange and extending outward through said aperture into operative relation to said vibrator.
