contemplates the provision of an improved device of this character that includes means for. rockably supporting an element in conjunction with the sign proper to beactuated by the jolting or swaying of the respective device upon which it is used.

A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type in question that is extremely simple in construction, strong and durable, and highly practical from both the standpoint of the manufacturer and the standpoint of the user; and which, it is believed, may be manufactured at a comparatively low cost.

Various other objects and advantages will become apparent during the continuance of the following description.

These objects are accomplished by such means as are shown in their preferred form in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In reducing my invention topractice, I preferably provide a base or other suitable supporting structure, such as for instance, is designated by the numeral 10, that-may be formed of any desirable material, and contains such illustration or sign, as desired. The member 13 itself, may be constructed of any desirable material, such for instance as card board or the like, and in View of such circumstance, I do not desire to limit myself to any specific form. With a view of supporting this member, in a manner such as set forth above, I first provide the base 10 with a suitable vibratory, rectilinear and horizontal supporting member or track which, in the present embodiment, is shown in the form of a strand of resilient wire 14 having its ends secured in the base so as to space its intermediate portion therefrom. The supporting member 14 is preferably arranged between the base 10 and the bent portion or shield 12 thereofwherebyit will be obscured from the view of the observer.-

A branch member or carriage, such as designated in its entirety by the numeral 15, carries a supporting pin or pivot 16, which in turn connects with the member 13 in the manner shown; while a bushing 17 is ar-' ranged between the said member and'the branch member 15 so as to retain the same in spaced relation to the carriage. The leg portions 18 of the carriage 15 are suitably curved, as at 19, adjacent their lower ends to form bearing portions which may be effectually engaged with the supporting A member 14. It is contemplated to arrange the carriage 15 substantially intermediate the ends of the supporting member 14, whereby the greatest amountof resiliency of the, latter may be utilized, and at the same time support the member 13 in a position whereby its lower edge will normally overlap the upper'edge' of the flange or shield 12 of the base, so as to completely hide the legs or downwardly diverging branches 18 of the carriage 15.

This type of device is readily applicable for use in connection with street car advertising, since the jar and swaying of the car myself'tothis specific construction.
