Description

E. KUNZE.
Corset-Spring Fasteners.
NOl 126,217' Patented Aprl'30,.1872.
Z1/Welzin? EMIL KUNZE, OF BUCHHOLZ, SAXONY.
IMPROVEMENT IN CORSET-SPRING FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,217, dated April 30, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
I, Emi. KUNZE, of Buchholz, Kingdom of Saxony, have invented a certain new Arrangement for the Easy Removing and Readjusting of Corset-Springs, of which the following is a specification Nature and Objects of the Invention.
The nature of my invention is a peculiar arrangement, by the aid of which the mcaniques of corsets, otherwise called blanchettesthat is, the steel bars forming the fastening of corsets-mecd not be sewed into the corsets, but can with little trouble be fastened to them, and easily taken olf when repairs of the corsets are necessary.
Description of the Accompanying Drawing.
Figure 1 represents a front view of the arrangement attached to the corset and closed. Fig. 2 represents a front View of the arrangement detached from the corset. Fig 3 represents a back view of the arrangement when detached from the corset.
A A represent the two movable fasteningrods, and B B the two fixed rods. B and C represent the two ends ofthe corset, which are to be fastened together. e c e e are parts of the pockets on the two ends of the corset, through which the two fastening-rods are slid. n n n n are the ears on one side, and 0 o o o the corresponding hooks on the other, fastened to the xed rods. r and s represent a hook anl pin fastened to the middle of each fixed ro General Description.
corset is to be repaired or washed the removing of the said blanchettes renders necessary the cutting open of the seams and resewing them, a process which, besides the loss of time and trouble, hasthe disadvantage that the corsets will seldom take again their proper shape. The new method shown by the drawing allows the mcaniques or blanchettes to be at any time easily and quickly removed and refastened. On the two sides B and C', where the mcaniques were formerly sewed in, a pocket, e e e c, of any material, is sewed on or woven to the corset, the same containing three, four, or five openings, in m m m. The same number of metal ears and hooks n n o o is to be fastened to the blanchettes with small nails or pins, which said ears and hooks are to fit exactly into the said openings before mentioned, m m. The mcaniques or steel bars B B are covered with shirting or any other woven material, or leather.
VThe fastening of the arrangement to the corset is effected in the following manner: The ears and hooks ii n o o are exactly fitted into the openings m m m m of the pockets, and the fastening bar or rod A (consisting of a piece of watch-spring or any other metal, or cane or whalebone) is pushed down the pockets and through the back bent ends of the hooks and ears. The permanent rods are covered by two strips of corset-stuff. The two parts of the mcaniques or blanchettes are united by three, four, or iive ears and hooks in the same mauner as now in use.
Claim.
I claim as my invention- The movable rods A A, in combination with the pockets e e e e. th'e ears ai n n n, and hooks o o o o, and the steel bars B B, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
