To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLIVER J. BICKMQRE, citizen of the United States, residing at Oldtown, Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Single-Use Powder- Boxes of which the following is a specification.
My invention is designed to provide a single use powder container with means for ejecting the powder by pressure through the use of a bulb.
I propose to make the box in substantially two parts, one to contain the powder and the discharge tube, and the other to contain the bulb or pressure device for ejecting the powder and to secure these two parts together in a single container or package sealed as it is sent out from the factory but capable of ready use by unsealing the exit opening for the powder and removing a section of the wall of the container to expose the bulb to the pressure of the finger.

In carrying out my invention I make the powder box or container of suitable material, pasteboard or metal, this being shown at A, having its upper end closed as at a, and provided with a central depending tube 6, a cap 0 covering the top and having a weakened portion 6! in line with the opening or the tube which can be removed before the device is used, this serving as a seal until it is removed. The lower end of the part A has a brace e, which may be of any suitable construction to prevent collapsing of the container, and it also tends to support the central tube near its lower end. The tube as shown is flared at its extreme lower end as at f, and a space is left between the end of the tube and the bottom of the powder receptacle, the walls of which curve inwardly as at 9 so as to direct the powder to the space beneath the flaring end of thetube for a purpose hereinafter described. I he powder receptacle has a flanged conneotion It, and in filling the receptacle the powder is placed within the part A through the open lower mouth formed by the flange h and after it has been suitably filled the part A is fitted through the flange h to the part B and after the parts are in place the two parts are held together and sealed by an outer wrapping G. The part B has a por forated bottom section '5 and a rubber bulb D is held between two disks or partitions is, Z, with a nipple m extending through the partition Z and into the flaring lower end of the tube 6. The rubber bulb D may 'be of the ordinary atomizer type having an intake valve n and an outlet valve 0, so as to prevent the powder from falling through into the bulb. An opening is formed in the wall of the part B to expose a part of the bulb as at 37 so that this may be pressed by the finger to eject the air out through the nozzle m into the pipe I) which will have the effect of entraining the powder falling down the curved walls 9 into the flaring mouth, and up and out through the opening of the pipe I; the pressure of air being suflicient for this purpose. When the package goes out from the factory the opening 9 in the wall of the part B will be sealed by a part of the outer wrapper as at 1", but this will be weakened around the edges of the opening and suitably inscribed so as to indicate that it is to be removed in order to expose a part of the bulb.
As shown in Fig. 2, instead of having the ejecting pipe centrally arranged I may incline it to one side so as to have it discharge the powder at the edge of the box instead of centrally thereof.
It will be seen that by this construction I produce a single use powder box which may be made so cheaply as to warrant its being thrown away after its supply of powder has been used. By reason of thecurved walls the powder is fed directly tothe flared opening so that every bit of the powder in the box may be used and there will be no waste. By sending the package out perfectly sealed there is no danger of waste in shipment and there can be no deterioration of the powder by exposure to the air.
The cap 0 may be made capable of turning, or any means may be provided for closing the exit opening temporarily when the device is notbeing used.
What I claim is:
1. A powder package comprising" a con tainer for the powder having a curved bot tom, a discharge tube having a flaring intake opening, a bulb having a nozzle extending through thebottom and into the flaring opening of the tube, the bulb having an exposed portion for manipulation, substantially as described.
