IMPROVEMENT IN HITCHING-STRAPSr Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,145, dated April 30, i872.
Specification describing an Improvement in Hitching- Straps, invented by BENJAMIN HUNTER, ot' the city of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania.
My invention consists of a pair of tongs so constructed and combined with ahitching-strap that, when their jaws are caught on opposite sides of a post or other thing to which the horse is to be hitched, the pulling of the horse on the strap tightens them and thus makes the `fastening secure, as will be'seen by the following description.
Figure l is a face view of the tongs A and A', in combination with the strap B. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the same.
Like letters in both figures indicate the same parts.
A and Al are two tongs, each of whichhas I at one end a clasping hooked jaw, a, and at a spring, E, the resilient part of which bears against the outer side of the slotted end of the tong A to close thejaws a a against the post F or other thing to be hitched to, to hold the horse, the latter is securely fastened.
Claim.
I cla-iin- As a new article of manufacture, the hitching device, consisting of the tongs A A', the
spring E, strap B, and spring-hook D, all'constructed and arranged for joint operation, substantially in the manner and for the purpose above described.
