This invention relates to new and useful improvements in obsergraphs, comprising an instrument adapted to be placed in an open ing ina door or wall and affording means whereby a person within the house may see by reflection objects without and consists of a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter .the accompanying drawings and'then spefully described, shown in cifically defined in the appended claims.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a central vertical sectional view through the device as applied to an opening in a door.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a door having an opening B therein, which, preferably, has its opposite sides beveled as'at D in order to widenthe range of operative-' ness of the device. The opening has transparent closures designated by lettersE and F. Fastened to theinner-face of thedoor is a hood H, formin a covering for a rotatable, right angle frame I, carrying a reflecting mirror J. A second mirror is designated by numeral P and is positioned underneath the mirror L and parallel thereto and in a casing P containing an eye piece S, said mirror P serving to reflect the image from the first mirror, to the eye piece S.
In operation, when the device is attached to a door frame or wall of a building, the person within the building will be able to see upon the mirror, when thrown down to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 of the drawings, objects from outside the building and, by turning the upper mirror, the range of field will be increased, thus enabling a person within the house to see objects outside without the person being able from the outside to detect objects within. When the under mirror is not in use, it will be swung up to closed position as shown in solid lines.
