IMPROVEMENT 1N COMPOUNDS FOR THE CURE OF COLIC AND BOTTS lN HORSES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,933, dated April 23, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
Specification describing a certain Compound called Remedy for Oolic and Botts, invented by THOMAS BURNS, of the town of Richmond, county of Jefferson, State of Ohio; to be used in severe cases of colic or botts in horses.
The nature of the invention of said BURNS consists offour parts of tincture of opium, four parts of sage-sirup, four parts tincture of aloes, two parts spirits niter, one part of sulphuricether, four parts of oil of turpentine, and eight parts of ninety-eight per cent. alcohol. Shake well before using. Give two ounces. If relief is not given in thirty minutes repeat the dose. Follow the first dose by bleeding freely in the month. In very severe cases it will be necessary to bleed in the neckvein and especially Where there is danger of inflammation of the bowels it is good practice from the commencement to back-rake and follow with injections. Injections may consist of two gallons of Warm Water, a pint of salt, and a half-pint of soap; to be replenished if Witnesses Tnos. W. BURNS, JAMES HARTUP.
