TOY.
Application filed .Tune 15, 1917. Serial No. 174,845. l
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FREDERICK H. SCHROER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful 1mprovements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in toys, the object of the invention being to provide a neat and attractive toy adapted to be operated by a blast of air directed through a tube and causing an ornamental member to revolve.
A further object is to provide a toy of the character stated which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonably low price, and it will not only amuse, but also permit a demonstration of lung power.
lVith these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation illus trating my improved toy.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary view in longitudinal section.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary bottom plan View, and
Fig. 4 is a view in section on the line 4--4 of Fig. 3.
1 represents a blow tube having a mouth piece 2 at one end, and having a closure 3 at its other end.
A bracket 4 is supported on tube 1, by means of two sleeves 5, 5, located at the respective ends of the bracket and fitting snugly upon the tube. One of these sleeves is made with an integral nozzle G projecting at an. angle from the sleeve and at its inner end communicating with an opening 7 in the wall of tube 1.
T he bracket 4 is provided with a horizorr tal strengthening brace 8 and this brace 8 is made With a bearing 9 in alinement with a bearing 10 in the center of bracket 4. These bearings 9 and 10 receive a rotary post 11, on which a platform 12 is secured by means of solder 13. The platform 12 rests on the bracket 4 and a head 14 is secured on post 11 below brace 8 so that While the post and platform are permitted a free Speccation of Letters Patent.

rotary movement, they are secured against vertical displacement.
The platform 12 VVis provided onv its lower face with a circular series of blades or vanes 15 against which the nozzle directs the blast of vair to impart aVV rotary movement Y to the platform and post.
By constructing my improved toy as above explained, it will be noted that the bracket 4, with its sleeves 5, and attached parts can be removed from the tube 1, and a rotaryl device of dierent design could be substituted. l
Various slight changes may be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my invention and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and Valterations, as fairly fall vvithin rthe spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let- Y ters Patent is:
1. VA toy, comprising a blow tube having an opening in its wall, a bracket having sleeves mounted on the tube,-one of said sleeves having a nozzle registering with the opening in the tube, and a rotary member supported-on the bracket and having blades or vanes adapted to receive the blast from said nozzle. v
2. A toy, comprising a blow tube having an opening in its wall, a bracket having sleeves mounted on the tube, one of said sleeves having a nozzle registering with the opening in the tube,.a rotary post supported on the bracket, a platform on the post havlng a circular series of blades or vanes adapted to receive the blast from the nozzle, arms projecting from the post, bails pivotally supported by the outer ends ofthe arms, and miniature air ships at thc lower ends of the bails.
3. A device of the character described, comprising a bleu7 tube having a mouth piece at one end and closed at other end, said tube having an opening in its Wall, a bracket having sleeves at its ends mounted on the tube, a nozzle on one of said sleeves communicating with the opening in the tube, a longitudinal brace fixed to the bracket, said brace and bracket having 15 alined bearings, a post mounted to turn in said bearings, a head on one end of the post against the brace, a platform on the postl against the bracket, a'circular series of blades or vanes on the platform adapted tol receive the blast of air from the nozzle, swinging bails connected to the upper portion of the post, and miniature air ships sup ported by the free ends of the bails.
1n testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of tivo subscribing Witnesses.
