Abstract
Description
where εm and εp represent the medium and particle permittivities, respectively, and the term in brackets represents the Claussus Mossoti factor, which represents the relative permittivities of the particle with respect to the suspending medium. The permittivities are modelled as complex functions of the applied electric field, since the complex function allows for both a phase and magnitude (the causal behavior of the permittivity can be modeled as a phase difference), and the real part of this term is used in the FDEP calculation.
