APPLICATION man, MAR- Is. 1916.

: Mwwl ATTORN EY GEORGE MARCEAU, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COLLAPSIBLE TUBE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 12, 1918.
Application filed March 16, 1916. Serial No. 84,975.
2 '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEoRen MAnonAU, citizen of the United States, and resident of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Tubes, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in collapsible tubes, such as are used in delivering at will plastic or thickened liquids.
The invention consists of a screw cap, having its upper exterior portion provided with a concavity and a slit, cut transversely across the concavity, so that the portion above the slit may be turned upwardly when used as a hanger.
In the drawings Figure 1 represents a part sectional and elevational view of the screw cap, mounted upon the collapsible tube.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the cap.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout drawings, in which is shown the collapsible tube, a, provided with the removable screw cap, 6, provided with the slit, 0, cut' transversely therein. The upper exterior surface of the screw cap, I), is also provided with the concavity, (Z, so that when the slit, 0, shall have been made it will enable the upper portion to be turned upwardly, aS shown by dotted lines, thereby forming a hanger. It will be obvious that the function of the depression d, is to provide a perforation through that portion of the cap I), when turned up as shown in dotted lines of Fig. 1. The depression (I may be of any shape desired, thus providing the upturned-portion with a corresponding shaped perforation, thus enabling it to be placed upon a hook when suspended.
I am aware that collapsible tubes have been provided with hangers, heretofore, of twisted or single wires, or metallic strips secured to the sides of the tube, or secured to the top of the cap. It will be obvious that these hangers, protruding beyond the can and the tube, necessitates them being bent or turned over when making a compact package for transportation. These objections are overcome by my invention herein disclosed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a collapsible tube the combination con- I sisting of the screw cap, the slit cut transversely through the body of the screw cap, the portion above the slit provided with a centrally located perforation, the latter adapted to be placed over a hook or nail, when the portion above the slit is turned up wardly and used as a hanger.
Signed at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 8th day of March, A. D. 1916.
GEORGE MARCEAU.
