Be it knorvn that ive7 CHARLES D. MCCORD and JOHN L. CARLsoN, citizens of the United States, residing at Edenburg, in the county of Lawrence and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain neiv and useful Iniprovenients in Sliade-l-langers. ot which the titl 'following is a speciiication.

This invention relates to an improved shade roller and curtain pole holder and the principal object of the invention is to provide a holder Which ivill protect the roller from dust and thus prevent it 'from beconiing soiled.

Another object ot the invention. is to so construct the holder that it-niay be adjusted according to the length of the shade roller.

Another object ot the invention is toco construct the holder that it may be very easily put in place.

Another object ot' the invention is to so construct this shade holder that the curtain pole supporting arins or brackets may be releasably connected therewith.

Another object of the invention is to so construct the holder, that in one form it may be connected With the outer faces of theside portions of a Window frame and in a modified forni, it may be connected with the inner faces of the side portions of a Windou7 frame.

This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, ivhereinz Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of one forni of the shade holder.

In the forni shown in Figs. 1 through 5 and in Figs. 9 and 10, the curtain holder is to extend` against the outer faces of the side portions oi.I the Window casing and in the forni shown in Figs. (3 through S and 11 through 13, the shade holder is to Ht between the side portions of the window traine. in the forni shown in Figs. 1 through 5, the shade holder is formed of sheet metal and 'is provided With end sections indicated in general bv the numeral 10. As each of these end sections has the saine construction, a description of one will suHicc for both. The blank from Whichthe end section is formed is bent longitudinally to provide a rear Wall 11 and an upper yall 12, the outer one of which is provided With a longitudinally eX- tending slot 13 through which passes a securing bolt 14 carried by the upper Wall of the inner section. Therefore this shade holder may be longitudinally adjusted and releasably held in the adjusted position. The outer end portion of the upper Wall is separated from the rear Wall and is bent doivn` ivardly thus providing an end Wall 15 and. an ear 16, the ear being provided With an opening` to receive the securing screuT 17. Tt should be noted that this securing screw 17 is provided with an enlarged head so Vthat it may be turned easily and thus screwed into place. Tongues 18 are struck from therear Wall and are bent and passed through slots orined in the end Wall thus securely holding the end Walls in the desired position. Clamping tongues 19 are struck from this end Wall 15 above and to one side of .openings 20 and it Tvill thus be seen that the arms Q1 of the curtain pole supporting brackets 22 may be passed under the clamping tongues 19 and have their hooked ends 23 passed through the openings 2O thus releasably but securely connecting the curtain pole supporting brackets ivith the end wall. lt should be further noted that the upper Wall has its outer edge portion bent down- Wardl y to provide a depending flange 24 and that the end Walls are `stamped to provide sockets one of Which will be provided With a circulaiopening and the second with a slot. ' In the forni shown in Figs. 6, 7 and 8, there has been piovided a shade roller holder which is somewhat similar to the forni shown inthe previous figures and in which each end section is provided with an upper wall 126, a rear wall 2? and a front 28 and an end wall 29. The front and rear walls are provided with end flanges 30 which are bent inwardly and fit against the end wall,

tongues 31 being struck froni the end wall and bent to extend through slots in the flanges 30 to securely connect the Vflanges ,with the end wall. These end walls extend beneath the front and rear walls and are provided with fastener receiving sockets 32 throughv which the fasteners 33 may be Vpassed to connect the end walls with the 'inner faces of the side portions of a window casing This forin of roller holder will be used in a manner siinilar to that previously Vdescribed and will be adjustedto the proper Alengthwith the pivot pin and winding key iof the roller fitting into the sockets 34 and thesecuring bolts 35 will then be tightened.

,and 10 will be provided with slots or openings 38 to receive the teeth 39 of the supporting bracket 40. This supporting bracket i40 is provided with hinge ears 41, a cani 'roller 42 is rotatably inounted between the hinge ears 41 and is positioned between the abutment fingers or shoulders 43 and 44 of the clamp 45. This clamp 45 is slidably mounted and has its penetrating arms or teeth 46 engaged b y the tongues 47 carried by the flange 48 of the bracket 40 and it will be readily seen from an inspection of iligs. 9 and 10 that by turning the cam roller through the medium ofthe actuating handle or lever 49, the clamp can be moved into or out of an operative position.
