ZINI'I'E STATES HENRY SANDERS, OF UTIOA, NEW YORK.
' IMPROVEMENT IN BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,335, dated April 2, 1872 antedated March 19, 1872.
Description of the Accompmzying Drawing.
Figure 1 is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a front View. Fig. 3 shows how the strap in connection with the buckle is' attached to the parts desired.
My invention consists in making a harnessbuckle with three separate bars-via, A, B, and G-for the purpose of doing away with the two leatherloops used on straps that appertain to harness or carriages, thereby making a great saving in leather and labor in making such straps, making them more durable and cheaper, as there are no loops on them to rip or tear out.
. Description.
Fig. 1 shows the three bars, A, B, and (J. Bars A and Care on the top side of the buckle. Bar B is on the under side of the buckle. D, in Fig. 1, shows the back part of the buckle, which is made higher than the other part for the purpose of passing the end of the strap through, as seen at D, Fig. 3. BarA is to at tach the buckle-tongue and strap to. Bar 0 is for the purpose of passing the strap under. After itis attached to the bar A the strap is then passed around the part desired, as seen at E, Fig. 3. It is then brought back under bars (3 and A, leaving bar B underneath the strap, bar B forming a loop to hold the strap to that part to which it is attached. The strap is then passed around the other part, as seen at F, Fig. 3, then under the front part of the buckle, and fastened by the tongue 9. The end of the strap is then passed under the back part of the buckle D, which holds it.
. Claim.
Having thus described very fully my invention, and the manner of making the buckle and using the strap with it, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The herein -described buckle, constructed 7 with the bars AB 0, and tongue g, when the frame is turned up at one end, as shown, so as to form a loop between the crossbar G and the end bar D of the frame, all substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
HENRY SANDERS.
