IMPROVEMENT IN KNlFE-SCOURING BOARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,124, dated April 2, 1872.
SPECIFICATION. I, EDGAR DEMING, of town of Seneca Falls,
county of Seneca and State of New York, have Description of Accompanying Drawing.
Figure 1 is a top view of the knife-scouring board. Fig. 2 is a sectional end View of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional side view thereof.
P, in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, is atable, tenby fourteen inches, (or larger or smaller if found convenient-,) made in any usual manner, with four legs for its support, as shown in said drawing. A is the cup which contains the sand, powder, or other scouring material, and is fastened to the under side of the board by a serew passing through an ear on said cup at a, Fig. 3, in such manner that the cup, by turning around on said screw, will stand out from under said board and expose its contents for use, as shown atA, Fig. 1, and, by being moved around beneath said board, prevents the material therein from falling out of said cup. 1) is another cup set into said board or table, and held to its place by a rim around the top or mouth thereof to contain the liquid used in scouring.
B is the cork used in scouring, (by being dipped first into the liquid and then into the sand or powder,) and is held to its place by a small standard, which is fixed in the table and fits into a hole in the bottom of said cork. 0
is the inclined plane on which the knife or other blade is laid during the process of scourmg.
I claim as my invention- The combination and arrangement of the cups A and B with the cork B and inclined plane (3 on the board P, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
