LAWN-SPBINKLER.

Application filed June 27, 1916.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAV H. Sonnnrnnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Antonio, in the county of BeXar and State of 'llexas, have invented a new and useful Lawn-Sprinkler, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to lawn sprinklers, one of its objects being to provide a simple and inexpensive device which can be easily placed in position upon a lawn and which an be used either for holding a hose nozzle in position to direct a stream of water in a desired direction or which can be used as a spraying device to which hose may be coupled.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings the prefer-red form of the invention has been shown.
in said drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device.
Fig. 2 is a section on line AB Fig. 1.
Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates a standard having an outstanding foot piece 2, said standard being pointed, thus to form a stake which can be forced readily into the ground. Formed integral with the upper portion of the standard or stake 1 is a frame 3 in the upper portion of which is formed a depending nozzle receiving ring 4, there being a set screw 5 extending into the ring from the top of the frame.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 11, 1917..
$eria1 No. 106,186.
A cross bar 6 is formed integral with the frame between the ends thereof and this cross bar is formed on one side with a tn bnlar extension 7 which is externally screw threaded, while extending from the other side of the bar is a threaded socket member 8. A spraying nozzle 9 is mounted upon the threaded tubular extension 7.
in, using the device, the stake 1 is forced into the ground, it being possible to press the same downwardly by placing a foot on the projee ion 2. The nozzle of the hose can be inserted into the ring 4 and held in place by means of the set screw 5. Or, if preferred, the nozzle can be removed and the coupling on the hose screwed into the socket member 8. Thus the water discharged from the hose will be distributed in the form of a spray from the nozzle 9.
By providing the ring t designed to rerate with the set screw 5, the hose nozzle can be adjusted so as to throw a spray through approximately a one-half circle without removing the nozzle from the ring.
What is claimed is A device of the class described including a stake, a foot rest extending therefrom, a frame integral with the upper portion of the stake, a socket member carried by the frame, a tubular extension projecting from said socket, a spraying nozzle, upon the extension, said socket member being adapted to engage a hose, a nozzle receiving ring within the frame and above the socket memher, and means projecting into the ring for binding a nozzle thereto.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto a'liixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
