IMPROVEMENT IN DIS'II'RIBUTINGAPPARATUS FOR GARDEN-HOSE, SYRINGES, Ktc.
Specilication forming part of Letters Patent No. 141,620, dated August 12, 1873; application tiled v September 6, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SrJl/IUELLL BARTON, Jr., of London, England, have invented certain Improvements in Distributing Apparatus for Garden Hose, Syringes, Garden Pumps, or Engines, Fountains, and other similar apparatus, and which are so arranged that the forni or character of the jet of water or other liquid may be changed at will without removing the nozzle, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 iu the annexed drawing is a sectional view of the apparatus in the position it assumes when the jet is closed, Figs. 2 and 3, exterior views, showing the rose open and the round jet closed.
I may here remark that it will be evident that, by placing the jets at a more acute angle, or nearer together, three or more ditierent jets might be used7 if required. W
a ct is part of the hand-pipe, at the end ofwhich is screwed the short slightlyconical plug b b at right angles to the axis of the handpipe, the plug being bored transversely with a hole, c, corresponding with the bore of the pipe. Outside this plug is fitted a socket or circular box, d d, so as to be capable of making about one-quarter of a revolution thereon, the said socket being tted with short pipes or necks, onto or into which are screwed or otherwise fitted the rose e c and the round jet f f.
It will be obvious that, by partially turning the socket d d (say about one-eighth of a revolution in either direction, see Fig. 1) upon the plug b b, either the rose or the round jet may be brought into action, aud'that when the apparatus is in the position shown in Fig. l the pipe c c will be closed and both jets stopped. Having now described the nature and object of my said invention, together with the manner in which the same is to be or may be performed or carried into effect, I claim as my invention- A revolving socket or circular box fitted with diii'ereut/jets and arranged so as to turn partially on a fixed conical or other plug on the end of the hand-pipe, substantially as hereinbefore described.
