Be it known that 1, Mrs. Dona Gnn'rnonn Gronnon, a citizen of the United States, re siding at Pasadena, in the county of Los .hngeles and State of California, have in vented new and useful Improvements in White Shoe-Polishes, of which the followin is a specification.

lit is an object of this invention to provide a shoe olish for White shoes and the like which 18 easily applied and which will whiten the shoes, leaving a layer of white polish thereon which will firmly adhere thereto and not easily rub off.
My invention consists in the composition of matter hereinafter described and claimed.
In the preparation of my shoe polish, I use the following ingredients in the proportion stated:
1 oz. zinc oxid.
2% oz. ethyl alcohol.
it on. henzin.
on. turpentine.
t oz. ammonia (commercial solution). The ingredients are thoroughly agitated Specification of Letters Patent.

to form a homogeneous mixture. The zinc oXid provides the white pigment. The a1 cohol serves as a solvent of grease, while the ammonia, being a volatile alkali, serves to cut the grease. The turpentine acts as a. vehicle of the pigment (zinc oxid) and as it evaporates it oxidizes and furnishes the binder, causing the zinc oxid to adhere firmly to the texture of the shoe.
The benzin, in addition to being a solvent of grease, is a thinner and helps to emulsify the mixture.
While the proportions may be varied from those given, the best results are obtained by following the directions closely.
I claim:
1. A white polish for shoes and. the like, comprising zinc oxid, ethyl alcohol, benzin, turpentine and ammonia.
2. A white polish for shoes and the like, consisting of 1 oz. Zinc oxid, 2%; oz. ethyl alcohol, 11; oz. benzin, 5- oz. turpentine and oz. ammonia.
