To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J AMES G. WARREN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cheney, in the county of Spokane and State of Washington, have invented certain useful Improvements in Photographic-Printing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing. 7

This invention relates to improvements in photographic printing apparatus, one obj ect of the invention being the provision of a device of this character in the nature of a piece of furniture, and being provided with means for printing both in the day time, in the dark, or at night time.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a device of this characterin which the back thereof is opened for the introduction of light rays upon a reflecting surface which cooperates with a photographic plate receiving opening to act upon the negative and positive elements, there further being provided a removable electric light carrying'member so that the present apparatus may utilize electric light as the active agent instead of the daylight rays during the day time.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 6 designates the legs and 7 the frame of the table, which is provided with the top 8 and with the two side drawers 9.

Mounted in the frame centrally thereof are the two side walls 10 and the inclined wall 11, which inclines from the front toward the rear of the piece of furniture, and is open at 12 to permit of the introduction of light rays upon the mirror or reflecting surface 13 carried by the member 11. Provided in the top 8 is an opening 14 having therearound the depression 15 for the reception of the printing frame 16.

When this device is used with artificial light, the metal plate 19, which is provided at its lower end with the projection 20 for engagement with the terminal 21, to which is attached the binding post 22 and the electrical conductor 23, is mounted to close the opening 12.

Carried by the member 19 is a small eleetric light 24 of approximately eight candle power, and two electric lights 25, preferably of one hundred and fifty watts capacity.

The member 19 is adapted to be used when there is not sufficient daylight to print, and in operating the present device with the electric lamps 2% and 25, the lamp 2a is burned at all times, while the lamps 25, by any desired means, that is, an individual switch, are cut in and out at the proper time for printing. The lamp 2& is of insufiicient power to afiect the sensitized paper in the printing frame, but assists greatly the operator in positioning the frame for use. The member 19 may vbe introduced into the light introducing casing of the present de vice through the opening thereof.

hat I claim as new is:

1. In a device of the class described, in combination a table having an opening, an inclined wall disposed transversely under said table opposite said opening, side walls forming a compartment with said inclined wall. a strip connecting the upper ends of the front edges of said side walls, a contact member projecting forwardly of the lowermost end of said inclined wall, a contact plate engaging said strip at its upper end and having a contact projection adapted to engage said contact member, and a lamp on said plate electrically connected in circuit with said projection and contact member, so that when said projection engages said contact member the circuit will be closed.

2.
